In partnership with our Newton Specialist Basement Contractor (NSBC) network, Newton is proud to operate our multi-award winning NSBC Membrane Recycling Service, the first and only scheme of its kind in the Structural Waterproofing Industry. The Service is a tailor made “back to base” membrane recycling facility, whereby Newton and their NSBCs actively recycle off-cuts of virgin and recycled HDPE from commercial and domestic construction sites throughout the UK.
Newton Waterproofing Systems provide full structural waterproofing solutions for both the refurbishment and new-build arenas to protect the entire structure from water ingress.
Newton provide waterproofing products for all three types of waterproofing as defined within BS 8102:2009:
- Type A (barrier) protection – Newton System 100 and Newton System 400
- Type B (structurally integral) protection – Newton System 300
- Type C (drained) protection – Newton System 500
Damp problems such as rising damp and penetrating damp lead to damp walls and can seriously damage your property. Even minimal damp penetration or rising damp will cause discolouration to surface plaster on walls, decorations and can even affect a building’s structural integrity. Newton Waterproofing offer a wide range of BBA approved damp proof membranes and ancillaries which are quick and clean to install and offer a permanent solution for damp proofing above ground walls.
Newton System 500 Internal Basement Waterproofing: For basement waterproofing (often referred to as tanking), Newton System 500 offers a proven, innovative and highly effective waterproof membrane solution.
Newton System 400 External Waterproofing Membranes: When placed to the retaining wall these membranes protect the primary waterproofing membrane from impact and water pressure, diverting water down to a perforated land drain for removal.
The waterproofing of podium decks and balconies is often an important requirement of a complete structural waterproofing solution. Due to the clients’ requirements to maximise the available space, we frequently find that the below ground structure will extend beyond the footprint of the above ground building. It is therefore essential that these areas and the detailing at ground floor level are completely impervious to water ingress.
The Newton PAC “Positive Air Curtain” 500 System is a combined basement waterproofing and ground gas mitigation system which successfully controls both water and gas levels within below ground/retaining structures.
Whether you need to control clear ground water, grey water, effluent or sewage, Newton supply a complete range of the highest specification pumps available for all your pumping requirements.
For treating damp or wet floors, we supply a full range of floor membranes. All our floor membranes can be used as a stand-alone product for dealing with a specific damp floor problem, or they can be used as part of a well-designed Newton System 500 waterproofing scheme.
Newtons supply two quality external drainage membranes for the reliable removal of ground water. Newton 406 Geodrain has a 6mm drainage layer and a vertical water flow of 1.27 litres per metre squared per second. Newton 410 Geodrain has a 10mm drainage layer and a vertical water flow of 4.60 litres per metre squared per second.
Newton System 300 products are used to waterproof joints and service penetrations to concrete elements, to provide Type B integrally waterproof retained structures that require no further waterproofing to be completely watertight.
Range highlights include 301 EasyProof metal waterbar which gives instant protection to construction joints and injectable waterbars that allow for post construction grouting and resin injection of leaking joints. Construction joints can be further waterproofed with Newton FlexProof, a very flexible polymer that is applied over the completed construction joint, either externally or internally.
The Newton Waterproofing App presents complete structural waterproofing and damp proofing solutions, including basement waterproofing and pumping systems, through the provision of product information, images, technical drawings, case studies, and videos.

Stunning Mill House Extension, Cornwall
This old Mill House in Cornwall has undergone a huge conversion and extension to become a luxurious five-bedroom home, protected by the failsafe Newton CDM System.
Simon Williams purchased the 18th Century Water Mill in 2015 with a view to renovate, develop and extend the beautiful property, located in Blowinghouse just South of Perranporth, into his private residence.
Once planning permission was gained for the required conversion and extension to transform the mill into a luxurious 5-bedroom family home, Simon liaised with CAD Architects on the design, which incorporated a waterproofing design specified by Newton.
An additional large garage with charming two-bedroom ancillary accommodation was also added to the grounds of the property, which required specialist steel and concrete foundations, given the close proximity of the water.
In order to restore the old mill and achieve a Grade 3 habitable environment, BS 8102:2009 recommends that a Type C internal cavity drain membrane system is one of the primary forms of waterproofing, as it is the most failsafe system that is least prone to defects and issues.
The Newton CDM System is also completely maintainable, and was therefore ideal for the 18th Century structure, considering that Williams Creative Homes did not want to compromise the external appearance of the thick stone walls.
The proximity of the river also meant that there was a high risk of water ingress, however Newton's robust cavity drain waterproofing is designed to capture water using Newton 508 membrane on the walls, then drain it away via gravity using Newton Basedrain.
"The Newton waterproofing products provided an extremely straightforward and understandable system for keeping out the water. Furthermore, it was supplied with all of the required ancillaries and fittings that would be necessary, making it very easy to install, and providing me with total peace of mind that once in place, it would do the job." - Simon Williams, Director, Williams Creative Homes.
Finished to an incredible high standard by Williams Creative Homes, Simon has been living in the property ever since, whilst the Newton waterproofing system successfully ensures that his home is completely dry and protected.
Luxury New Hillside Home, North London
This stunning new-build with floor-to-ceiling glass panels is built into the hillside and thus required a robust waterproofing solution for failsafe protection.
After the original property on this site in Barnet was demolished, construction began for a new building that could take full advantage of the stunning location. With floor-to-ceiling glass panels on one side of the property, this new-build is the best place to admire the views over London.
Built into the hillside, the property was therefore partially-retaining and required a full waterproofing system throughout to protect from unwanted water ingress. As such, Newton Specialist Contractor Stonehouse were called in to expertly install a robust waterproofing system to the entire structure.
The client appointed Stonehouse's Richard Allen as the waterproofing design specialist on this project, to ensure a fully BS 8102:2009 compliant build.
Due to the partially-retaining nature of the structure, Richard recommended a combination of Type A, B and C waterproofing systems to ensure a Grade 3 habitable environment. Relying on an effective Type B structure, Stonehouse then applied a cementitious coating of Type A Newton 107F to the external surface of the flat roof decks and to the internal area of the lower lift pit.
Given the high risk from water, the failsafe Newton CDM System was also installed on both levels of the structure. Newton 508 membrane was securely fixed to the internal walls using Newton's ancillary products, with water from the upper level being bunded and piped down to the lower level, then drained via gravity fall using Newton Basedrain.
As one of our most experienced specialist contractors, Stonehouse expertly recommended, designed and installed a truly failsafe waterproofing system that will continue to protect this contemporary home for many years to come. Furthermore, Stonehouse were able to provide a 10-year guarantee for the installation, for complete peace of mind.
"This was a challenging project from the start due to the complex construction of the building with different levels and a high risk of water ingress through construction joints, fully retaining elevations and external podium decks.
We had to combine a wide range of Newton's products in our design and installation to achieve a continual barrier and satisfy the requirements of both the client and main contractor whilst achieving a system that is in full compliance with BS 8102:2009." - Richard Allen CSRT CSSW, Senior Surveyor, Stonehouse.
