In partnership with our Newton Specialist Basement Contractor (NSBC) network, Newton is proud to operate our multi-award winning NSBC Membrane Recycling Service, the first and only scheme of its kind in the Structural Waterproofing Industry. The Service is a tailor made “back to base” membrane recycling facility, whereby Newton and their NSBCs actively recycle off-cuts of virgin and recycled HDPE from commercial and domestic construction sites throughout the UK.
Newton Waterproofing Systems provide full structural waterproofing solutions for both the refurbishment and new-build arenas to protect the entire structure from water ingress.
Newton provide waterproofing products for all three types of waterproofing as defined within BS 8102:2009:
- Type A (barrier) protection – Newton System 100 and Newton System 400
- Type B (structurally integral) protection – Newton System 300
- Type C (drained) protection – Newton System 500
Damp problems such as rising damp and penetrating damp lead to damp walls and can seriously damage your property. Even minimal damp penetration or rising damp will cause discolouration to surface plaster on walls, decorations and can even affect a building’s structural integrity. Newton Waterproofing offer a wide range of BBA approved damp proof membranes and ancillaries which are quick and clean to install and offer a permanent solution for damp proofing above ground walls.
Newton System 500 Internal Basement Waterproofing: For basement waterproofing (often referred to as tanking), Newton System 500 offers a proven, innovative and highly effective waterproof membrane solution.
Newton System 400 External Waterproofing Membranes: When placed to the retaining wall these membranes protect the primary waterproofing membrane from impact and water pressure, diverting water down to a perforated land drain for removal.
The waterproofing of podium decks and balconies is often an important requirement of a complete structural waterproofing solution. Due to the clients’ requirements to maximise the available space, we frequently find that the below ground structure will extend beyond the footprint of the above ground building. It is therefore essential that these areas and the detailing at ground floor level are completely impervious to water ingress.
The Newton PAC “Positive Air Curtain” 500 System is a combined basement waterproofing and ground gas mitigation system which successfully controls both water and gas levels within below ground/retaining structures.
Whether you need to control clear ground water, grey water, effluent or sewage, Newton supply a complete range of the highest specification pumps available for all your pumping requirements.
For treating damp or wet floors, we supply a full range of floor membranes. All our floor membranes can be used as a stand-alone product for dealing with a specific damp floor problem, or they can be used as part of a well-designed Newton System 500 waterproofing scheme.
Newtons supply two quality external drainage membranes for the reliable removal of ground water. Newton 406 Geodrain has a 6mm drainage layer and a vertical water flow of 1.27 litres per metre squared per second. Newton 410 Geodrain has a 10mm drainage layer and a vertical water flow of 4.60 litres per metre squared per second.
Newton System 300 products are used to waterproof joints and service penetrations to concrete elements, to provide Type B integrally waterproof retained structures that require no further waterproofing to be completely watertight.
Range highlights include 301 EasyProof metal waterbar which gives instant protection to construction joints and injectable waterbars that allow for post construction grouting and resin injection of leaking joints. Construction joints can be further waterproofed with Newton FlexProof, a very flexible polymer that is applied over the completed construction joint, either externally or internally.
The Newton Waterproofing App presents complete structural waterproofing and damp proofing solutions, including basement waterproofing and pumping systems, through the provision of product information, images, technical drawings, case studies, and videos.

Five Tonnes of Plastic Saved From Landfill in 2019 by Award-Winning Recycling Service
An innovative and unique recycling service set up by Newton Waterproofing has saved 5.174 tonnes of plastic from going to landfill in 2019.
The UK's leading independent designers and suppliers of guaranteed waterproofing and damp proofing systems had 223 bags of HDPE membrane returned to them throughout the course of the year as part of the scheme.
By recycling waste plastic into new products instead of manufacturing from new HDPE, during 2019 alone Newton have prevented 5.944 tonnes of CO2e emissions from being released into the atmosphere; the equivalent of burning 1.96 metric tonnes of petrol, and saving enough energy to make 826,200 mugs of tea.
Furthermore, since the scheme's launch in 2017 it has successfully prevented over 13.7 tonnes of plastic from going to landfill, equivalent to preventing 15.746 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
It's no surprise, then, that the service has won six awards in just over two years, including the 'Charles Darwin Award' from the British and Irish Trading Alliance (BITA); the 'Commitment to the Environment Award' from the Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA); the prestigious 'Innovation of the Year' award from the National Building Awards; and the 'Sustainability' award at the Property Care Association Best Practice Awards.
"Our innovative recycling service had another tremendous year in 2019 and, as well as the environmental benefits, we also saved 223m3 of skip space on site, equivalent to more than 24 full skips and therefore 50 skip journeys.
This obviously delivers further emission and cost savings. We are proud to operate what is the only recycling service in the waterproofing industry." - Warren Muschialli, Managing Director, Newton Waterproofing Systems
The closed-loop scheme works in collaboration with the company's Newton Specialist Basement Contractors (NSBCs) who collect waste off-cuts of plastic membrane on their projects.
The waste is then collected by Newton at the same time as making deliveries of new materials, therefore preventing additional emissions from transporting the plastic. Finally, the material is chipped into granules by Newton, then collected by a national recycler for reprocessing and reusing to make new products for the construction industry.
