Fillers are materials used to fill gaps or voids in a surface. Skimming, or applying a thin layer of material, is often done after filling to create a smooth surface. Skim coats are specifically thin layers of material used to smooth out rough or uneven surfaces. Spray application refers to the use of equipment to apply materials in a fine mist or spray. Airless spray equipment does not use compressed air to atomize the material, but instead uses pressure to force the material through a small nozzle.
