AATi is an acknowledged leading manufacturer and supplier of high footfall, fixed-stair safety treads and stair nosings for many pedestrian environments. These include rail and underground stations, shopping malls, multi-storey car parks, and railway carriage and platform thresholds.
Our encapsulated silicon carbide and cast metal composite antislip gratings, plates, insets bars and over 130 different stair nosing designs have a typical life span of 30 years, whilst high-grade aluminium products provide an economic and effective alternative for low-footfall areas.
The highly skilled workforce at our Essex-based foundry, cast a wide range of antislip wear, including bespoke castings for unique settings, using cast irons, as well as copper and aluminium alloys. All production is undertaken to UK and European standards.

The new Crossrail Development for TFL, will provide better connectivity for around 200 million passengers annually, much of the route requires significant upgrading, including construction footbridges bridges and station entrance capacity works.
West Ealing, Ealing Broadway & Acton Mainline stations were awarded to main contractor Graham Construction to upgrade and serve access to West London for the new Elizabeth Line.
AATi anti-slip stair nosings type SN93/SL3/280 and SN93/SL3/140 were chosen in Nickel Bronze for this Crossrail package to ensure product durability that is unrivalled in the rail market.
AATi have supplied stair nosings across the London Underground network over the past 50 years along with AFA (Access for all) footbridges for Network Rail in the last decade.

AATi Supplied anti-slip stair nosings for another AFA ‘Access for All’ footbridge at Liphook station in Hampshire. This is part of a Network Rail replacement project worth £5.3million, the bridge is set to provide better journeys for passengers and improve station access. The structure features a lift on each platform to provide the step-free access for disabled users. The footbridge with runs over two platforms, upgrading CCTV and lighting simultaneously.
The Director for Network Rail Wessex said "the team have worked through the pandemic to deliver this improvement and it’s fantastic to be able to open the new bridge as passengers come back to our railway. It will serve the people of the area for decades to come.” (Rail Technology Magazine)
Two full sets of AATi’s 'SN293/WL/307UR' finish off the staircases ensuring long-lasting and high-performance foot access for years to come. The AATi cast metal anti-slip stair nosings were complimented with our anti-slip Corduroy Tactile Tiles ‘TT1/400’ compliant with UK Rail & Building Regulations for the identification of the start of a staircase for those with reduced or absence of sight.
