GPS Piping Systems - Specialising in polyethylene (PE) pipe systems, we help deliver gas and clean drinking water to thousands of homes and businesses across the UK and abroad. We are a UK manufacturer with a 100-year heritage and a global reach. Having pioneered PE pipe systems in the UK, we continue to lead innovation today, supplying products to many of the leading utility, engineering and construction companies.
Our product range includes:
- Excel (PE100) Pipes - Excel is a High Performance Polyethylene (HPPE) pipe for water and sewage duties. It is made from the tough PE100 polymer, which is a stronger, higher density material than PE80, demonstrating high resistance to rapid crack propagation (60°C to -30°C) as well as to long term stress cracking.
- PE80 Pipes - Our PE80 pipe is manufactured from MDPE rather than HDPE PE80. MDPE has a higher long term stress crack resistance than traditional HDPE PE80.
- Protecta-Line Barrier Pipe System - Protecta-Line is an award winning, fully integrated barrier pipe and fittings system. Its tough multi-layer construction ensures that any contaminants remaining in brownfield sites and former industrial land cannot permeate into the water supply.
- Excel 3C Coils - Excel 3C is a factory sealed Excel (PE100) pipe coil that is approved by the Secretary of State for installation without pre-chlorination. It can save up to seven days in installation time and vastly reduce the quantity of hypochlorite solution required.
- Frialen Electrofusion Fittings - FRIALEN electrofusion fittings are manufactured by our sister company Friatec and GPS PE Pipe Systems are their sole UK distributor. The unique design of FRIALEN electrofusion fittings incorporates exposed heating coils to provide consistent heat transfer during fusion and to achieve maximum bonding between the materials. FRIALEN fittings are lightweight, resistant to corrosion, have excellent chemical durability and exceptional fusibility.
- Pupped Fittings - Ease of pipe system installation by electrofusion and butt-fusion can be greatly assisted on-site with the use of pupped fittings. We make a wide range of Pupped Fittings featuring extended spigots in various sizes made from either Excel (PE100) Black/Blue or PE80 Yellow.
- Long Spigot Fittings - Long Spigot Fittings are suitable for electrofusion and on-site butt-fusion without any additional pupping needed (provided that machines with narrow clamps are used). Long Spigot fittings are available in SDR11 and SDR17/17.6, in sizes from 315mm to 630mm (dependent on fitting) and come in a wide range of shapes.
- Accessories - Backing rings and gaskets for leak-tight detachable flange joints.

Aliaxis - PLX refuels Lowestoft Haven Marina
The Challenge
Lowestoft Haven Marina is a marina situated on the coast of East Anglia. In operation all year round, it is essential that the berthed boats have a reliable pipework system to feed the fuel dispensing units on the pontoon. Allerton Marine Services needed to source a new pipework system that was safe and longer lasting, as well as ensuring that no harmful emissions can escape into the environment.
The Solution
After careful research, the contractor decided to opt for a plastic pipework solution. Fuel permeation resistant, durable, lightweight and flexible, plastic pipework systems require significantly less energy to manufacture, transport and install than traditional pipework materials.
Richard Allerton, Director at Allerton Marine Services, said: “As Aliaxis are specialists in plastic pipework systems, we approached the company to see if they could offer us a solution for fuel transfer. With a 30-year design life, we were recommended the Close-Fit system from the PLX range, which provides a secure environment for the conveyance of marine fuels. It is corrosion and permeation resistant, as well as maintenance free, and as the pipe is secondary contained, it provides security against accidental fuel leaks and losses. As this ticked all of the boxes, we knew that it was the ideal solution for the marina.
“Prior to installation, we were invited to the factory to complete installation training, where our installers spent the day with the Aliaxis team and were shown how to correctly install the pipework system and fittings using the appropriate tools.”
The PLX Close-Fit Pipe System in size 50#63mm was installed at Lowestoft Haven Marina, which runs from the 10,000ltr tank on the marina down to the fuel dispensing unit on the floating pontoon. The pipe was run through 14m of 3” NB galvanised pipe across the boat lifting dock for extra protection and then dropped down onto the floating pontoon and placed into the service duct for a 50m run. The pipe then terminates at the containment tray underneath the fuel dispenser. Thanks to the installation of secondary containment fittings, this allows interstitial monitoring and leak detection of the complete system.
Richard continued: “There are lots of key features and benefits of the PLX system. We are really pleased with the secondary containment pipework and the fact it enables us to monitor the system and detect a leak is extremely beneficial. The transition from steel to plastic was certainly the right choice and I am sure this will also be proven in the years to come. The Aliaxis team were a great support throughout the project and we can’t fault their services.”
The smooth bore of the PLX plastic pipe ensures less friction build-up and guarantees a consistent flow rate is maintained throughout the life of the system. With optimum flow levels maintained, minimal maintenance and repair work is required to ensure the system operates efficiently.
Aliaxia - We've launched our new PROFIBUS® Actuated Valves
Demonstrating our continued commitment to product development, we're excited to introduce our new PROFIBUS Actuated Valves range, as part of our portfolio of solutions for the industrial and waste water treatment markets.
Designed for use with our SuperFlo ABS, FIP PVC, Durapipe Polypropylene and Corzan CPVC industrial pipework systems, our intelligent PROFIBUS Actuated Valves provide users with greater control and enhanced visibility of the wider system's performance.
Paired with a central programme logic controller (PLC), PROFIBUS allows for up to 250 valves to be controlled via the leading network. This will enable users to operate a network of valves remotely, either individually or in unison, to create patterns and commands for valve operation. The PROFIBUS valve can also feedback to the central PLC on various operating parameters.
Supplied pre-wired and pre-programmed, ready for PLC connectivity, PROFIBUS Actuated Valves provide an 'out of the box', plug-and-play solution. In addition, customers can opt to have the PROFIBUS Network Module retrofitted onto any existing electrically actuated valves with the support of our valves team, making the technology highly adaptable and cost-effective.
Our PROFIBUS Actuated Valves are available on three actuated valve types - VKD Ball Valve (all sizes), TKD 3-way Ball Valve (all sizes) and the FK Butterfly Valve (up to 4"/110mm) – and is compatible with a variety of PLC systems that operate using a PROFIBUS protocol, including both DP V0 and V1. The actuated valves can also connect to Modbus and Fieldbus software, in addition to PROFIBUS.
Speaking about the launch, Rich Pedley, Product Manager at Aliaxis, said: "Within the industry, there has been a growing demand for the level of connectivity made possible by the PROFIBUS network, especially within industrial automation and control applications. As a result, the launch of our PROFIBUS Actuated Valves is a really exciting step forward and we're thrilled to now be able to provide our customers with access to this technology.
"The connectivity enabled by our actuated valves will be a great solution for the waste water treatment market but we also see such automation providing equal value to the food and beverage sectors, opening up the potential for our products to connect to new and existing PROFIBUS networks."
The PROFIBUS network can also provide invaluable data and feedback on valve performance, such as temperature, fault analysis, valve positioning and cycle counts, all helping to better inform maintenance schedules and repairs.
