Wade Linear from Alumasc specified in Heart of Hale Regeneration Scheme
Wade Linear from Alumasc specified in Heart of Hale Regeneration Scheme
Alumasc Water Management Solutions have worked closely with contractors and installers on a pivotal new placemaking project, to supply a bespoke package of Wade Linear Drainage channels at London's next up-and-coming affordable neighbourhood.
Welbourne forms part of the Heart of Hale Regeneration Scheme in Tottenham Hale. It was designed by Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects and delivered by main contractor United Living New Homes, for Related Argent. The new development comprises 131 new council homes, a central health centre, retail space, landscaped areas and roof terraces. The project is part of the £500 million 'Strategic Development Partnership', a collaboration developed between Related Argent and Haringey Council, and will serve around 30,000 local people.
Wade's technical team made numerous visits to site, assisting the main contractor with the specification of the required channels and outlets. The objective was to provide a robust drainage solution that could withstand the footfall of a busy community hub, whilst excelling in terms of drainage performance.
A bespoke package of Wade NE Linear drainage channels and outlets, with Streamline gratings, was specified for the flooring areas, balconies and terraces across the whole development. The Linear drainage range offers stainless steel channels in a variety of profiles, generally with in-built falls towards the outlets. Side bars and folds are made so that the selected grating fits flush with the show edges.
Wade Linear drainage channels offer load classes A15, B125, C250 & D400 depending on the channel type. Load class is achieved when installed with a grating of same or higher class, in accordance with Wade installation guidelines. The range is BS EN 1433 compliant, and offers easy maintenance by directing a jet of water along the channel towards the outlet.
Profiles are available to cater for varying volumes of water in most applications, from public buildings, healthcare and leisure facilities, to hygiene environments and food/drink manufacturing; with options to suit any flooring finish.
To complete the AWMS drainage solution at the project, Flushjoint downpipes from Alumasc Rainwater were specified for the residential buildings and health centre. Flushjoint is a contemporary range of extruded aluminium downpipes with concealed spigots which give a smooth, clean finish to perfectly complement the minimalist layout of the building's terraces and balconies. The Flushjoint system was supplied with a circular downpipe profile, and BBA approved polyester powder coated, to colour match the project's rustic red metalwork. Flushjoint is inherently lightweight, easy to install and is 100% recyclable.

Gatic Ultraslot meets rigorous drainage demands at Peru's new 'Airport City'
Gatic Ultraslot meets rigorous drainage demands at Peru's new 'Airport City'
The new Jorge Chávez Airport in Peru is one of the most pioneering airport projects ever undertaken in South America. Its expansive infrastructure presented a need for efficient and consistent management of high-volume rainwater, which has been met successfully with the installation of Gatic UltraSlot from Alumasc Water Management Solutions (AWMS).
Covering an enormous 210,000 square metres in Peru's capital city, Lima, the new Jorge Chávez Airport has been designed as a cornerstone for connectivity in South America. The state-of-the-art passenger terminal is being hailed not only as an airport, but as an important hub attracting essential new services to the city. Operation is due to start in early 2025 with further expansion continuing throughout the year. Once complete, it will have the capacity to serve 40 million passengers every year. The project is being delivered by infrastructure construction specialist Sacyr, on behalf of Lima Airport Partners (LAP).
Gatic UltraSlot was specified, and certified for effectiveness, by Spanish engineering services company Cemosa, for installation in operational areas, including airside and aircraft parking zones. UltraSlot not only offered the high rainwater drainage capabilities necessary for the Peruvian location, but it is also highly durable in areas of heavy and slow-moving traffic – essential for uninterrupted operation in a large-scale airport environment.
UltraSlot is designed for use in external concrete areas subject to F900 loading, by ensuring sufficient depth of concrete over the main body of the system to withstand ultra heavy-duty loads. It also presents minimal maintenance costs and has no moving or removable parts, which ensures long-lasting performance, positioning Gatic's market-leading system as the preferred solution across airports worldwide.
From the outset, Gatic's technical teams worked closely with the airport's project managers to provide specialised, tailored technical support, allowing for the complete fulfillment of the project's scope.
Gatic UltraSlot carries the following system certifications:
EN 1433: European standard for drainage channels in vehicular and pedestrian areas, classifying loads from A15 to F900
ISO 9001: Recognized standard for product quality improvement and manufacturing process quality
UltraSlot units are available from 100 to 600mm wide; the largest unit having a storage capacity of 405 l/m. The range offers these additional benefits:
Quick installation times
Maximum intake
Impact resistance
Tamper resistance
Reduced maintenance costs
The range can be installed in areas likely to experience extreme temperatures, and when installed in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, should perform for the lifetime of the site.
A comprehensive range of grates and covers is available to suit every conceivable system design, supplied with locking bolts for additional safety and security. A 'treadsafe' option is also available, which makes the channels safe to cross when used in areas subject to high foot traffic.
