Facades made from basalt:
The starting point of our facade panelling is the natural raw material from which it is made: basalt. This volcanic rock forms the basis of our stone wool facade panels, making our product a unique, sustainable and durable material. Naturally fire safe, our panels meet the strictest requirements for structural fire safety and offer optimum protection for people and the environment.
Naturally protected from the elements:
A ventilated facade is a facade construction with an air gap between the insulation and the facade cladding. This gap allows natural ventilation of the facade and can act as a raincoat, protecting the building from wind and rain while at the same time providing a healthy indoor climate. Ventilated facades counterbalance the effects of moisture and help stabilise temperatures both inside and outside, helping to lower energy costs in all seasons.

Rockpanel Metals for a clean, industrial look
Aluminium facade cladding: what are the options?
Metal facade cladding definitely belongs to the top materials in modern architecture. A facade with an aluminium look gives any building a sleek industrial look. Some of the most well-known types of metal facade cladding are copper, aluminium, stainless steel and zinc. Aluminium Composite Panels (ACPs), also known as sandwich panels, are also used quite often. But what’s the best solution if you’re looking for metal façade cladding?
Aluminium facade cladding: what are the options?
Metal facade cladding can be roughly divided into two categories. First of all, you have facade boards of pure aluminium, zinc, copper or stainless steel. These are light, pliable and easy to install. Unfortunately, they’re also relatively expensive and vulnerable to dents. Next to that, within some combinations corrosion may occur. For copper and zinc cladding, another issue is the potential danger for the environment when they come in contact with rain water.
Another type of metal facade cladding are composite panels, also known as sandwich panels. Aluminium Composite Panels (ACPs), for example, consist of two thin coil-coated aluminium sheets, bonded to core of other material. In many cases, plastics are used here, giving these panels a poor reaction to fire.

Rockpanel - All advantages of a ventilated facade construction
Rockpanel exterior cladding fits perfectly into your ventilated facade construction. But what is a ventilated facade exactly? The concept of a ventilated facade was created in Norway. The technique of building exterior timber clad walls with openings on the top and bottom for water drainage was first used on storage barns. Scientific research later showed that a ventilated facade has a lot of advantages.
What is a ventilated facade (rainscreen cladding)?
A ventilated facade is a facade construction with an air gap between the insulation and the facade cladding. This gap is open at the top and bottom. This creates a way for natural ventilation of the facade.
A ventilated facade can be viewed as a raincoat: it protects a building against the weather, while at the same time creating a healthy indoor climate. This is why the building technique of ventilated facades is often referred to as rainscreen cladding.
Why should I opt for a ventilated facade?
Scientific research shows that a ventilated facade has multiple benefits compared to other building techniques. When a brick or concrete wall is exposed to continuous rain, it can act as a sponge, due to the porous nature of the materials. Ventilated facades, however, allow for the water to be drained in the cavity and any other humidity to evaporate through the air gap. The facade may get wet in the cavity because of the open joints, but this moisture will evaporate quickly thanks to the ventilation flow within the air cavity.
Ventilated facade constructions & indoor climate
Using a ventilate facade construction helps creating a healthy indoor climate. How does this work? A ventilated facade reduces the direct solar impact on the building and the walls do not heat up as much as other constructions during Summer, thanks to the constant air flow in the cavity which is constantly cooling the construction. With a well-designed and well-constructed facade, negative effects of condensation can be prevented, because water will dry out or leak out. Algae and moisture problems do not occur and mould cannot grow because the facade is ‘self-breathing’.
