INTRAsystems is proud to be the market leader in the design of entrance matting and architectural grilles for commercial environments, assisting specifiers to achieve the full potential of their vision, with no compromises to design or functionality.
The entrances of schools, universities and colleges are often subject to intense periods of heavy footfall, with muddy shoes and studded footwear for sports making heavy-duty entrance matting a necessity. INTRAsystems is dedicated to finding the most suitable solution for your building, while simultaneously keeping costs low to suit centrally funded budgets.
Experts in the exacting needs of hospitals, care homes and surgeries, INTRAsystems can provide the hygienic and hard-wearing entrance matting solutions that the healthcare sector demands. Exceptionally durable to cope with high traffic flow, and featuring effective soil and moisture removal, you can be confident that your entrance will be both safe and sanitary for public use.
These are areas with extreme traffic levels, and a high performing and heavy duty Entrance Matting system is essential to ensure safety. This sector includes some of the most demanding areas for the use of Entrance Matting, with consistent high traffic flow and heavy wheeled items.
From grand exhibition halls to noble museums and opulent theatres, public buildings must stand up to both potentially high traffic and the critique of the public eye. We keep the desired character of your building in mind, alongside safety and performance requirements, to find you the perfect INTRAsystems solution for your building.
With bespoke entrance matting, architectural grilles and creative ceilings, you can give your shopping centre the wow factor. High levels of traffic, especially in peak seasons, demand a matting solution you can trust; with smooth tiled floors in frequent use, absorbent matting is a health and safety mainstay. It also helps to maintain a clean and polished appearance to welcome your shoppers and make the ideal first impression.
Whether a boutique clothing store, high street giant or bustling supermarket, INTRAsystems can help your retail store’s aesthetic appeal and safety requirements with custom-designed entrance matting. Durable, simple to clean and able to remove large volumes of dirt and moisture from consistently high footfall, your matting solution can provide a practical yet inviting entrance on a budget.
Whatever the primary function of your leisure facility, INTRAsystems can help to produce a bespoke entrance matting solution which allows for varying traffic flow, health and safety assurance and which helps your venue stand out from the crowd. Whether for a stadium, sports centre, swimming pool or hotel, we can provide the specialist matting to suit your exacting requirements.

The English National Ballet – the AJ100 Building of The Year 2020 –
The English National Ballet – the AJ100 Building of The Year 2020 – impressed judges with its ‘pared-back, attractive simplicity’. This design restraint filters through every aspect of the build, down to the specification of a classic monochrome entrance mat using INTRAform DM Low Profile.
Using a combination of black ribbed polypropylene and multidirectional rubber inserts, Glenn Howells Architects has created a highly effective zonal matting system with a clean, simple aesthetic.
Multidirectional rubber inserts within the revolving doors provide exceptional scraping action to remove excess moisture and debris from footwear. While the extra wide fibre inserts within the primary matting absorb any remaining moisture before visitors reach the screed floor beyond.
The low-cost of the build was a further factor that appealed to the Building of the Year judges, impressing them with a cost per square metre of just £3000. This economy is also considered in the entrance mat specification.
A low-profile aluminium system and ribbed polypropylene fibre insert provide a cost-effective entrance matting solution without compromising performance. The creation of a zonal system using rubber inserts within the revolving doors and an enhanced entrance matting area further heighten performance.
Measuring nearly 6m front-to-back, the matting far exceeds the BS 7953 recommended minimum and WELL recommendations on length to provide a highly effective walk-off area for a safe and slip-free entrance.
Through skilled installation, the aluminium ribs of both the interior and revolving door mats perfectly align to create clean uninterrupted lines.
With the unconventional angles of the façade, the entrance matting ribs align with the inner edge of the entrance mat. This creates visual interest at the threshold and creates an angular extension of matting towards the hospitality desk and public café area which will experience the highest flow of traffic.
The resulting entrance mat installation provides exceptional performance for the many visitors to the building whilst upholding the vision of the architect and their client.

Entrance Matting at EightyFen
Using INTRAflex XT bronze profiles with truffle inserts, the entrance matting at EightyFen blends seamlessly with the aesthetic of the building.
Completed in Q4 2020, EightyFen welcomes visitors into a double-height foyer, incorporating wood detailing throughout; from flooring and partitioning to ceiling baffles and balustrading.
The juxtaposition of warm tones, textures and a strong linear aesthetic creates a contemporary and welcoming communal space for tenants and visitors alike.
INTRAflex XT is the perfect specification for this high-end design space that aims to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Manufactured from 100% recycled aluminium, this strong, high-performance system comes with a 10-year warranty reducing the need for frequent replacement.
The aluminium profiles connect with rubber strips which allow the matting to roll up for ease of cleaning. While individual entrance matting profiles can also be easily replaced should they ever become damaged.
The heavy-duty looped pile inserts provide additional scraper action to help remove dirt and grit. Ultimately protecting interior flooring and furnishings, minimising the need for cleaning, and extending their lifespan.
Sizing and Performance
The matting stretches 20 metres across the reception space, encompassing both revolving doors and the disabled pass door. Measuring 3192mm deep at its narrowest point ensures adequate footsteps on the mat to keep the front of house space clean and slip-free.
This exceeds both the BS7953 and WELL standard recommended minimums of 2100 mm and 3000 mm, respectively.
Entry via the pass door includes a slight incline around a left-hand turn. The extra length of matting in this design ensures water and debris is thoroughly removed from even the largest wheelchair wheel.
