9mm Magply provides a fire-safe, lightweight environmentally friendly solution for Spandrel Panels. As a high performance, multi-functional board, Magply features a Magnesium Oxide formulation and is manufactured from a production process that ensures a very low chloride content enhancing both stability and durability. Magply is tested for use in spandrel panel applications utilising one 9mm board on each side of a uninsulated spandrel frame to BS 476 (Part 22)1987.
Tilebacker Boards:
Magply Tilebacker is a mineral based, homogeneous, environmentally friendly product with a manufacturing process that produces very little in the way of C02 emissions, unlike cement particle and gypsum boards which both generate high levels of C02. Magply Tilebacker Boards help to provide a safe and healthy living environment whilst being a great surface to tile onto.
Modular & Leisure Build:
Off-site Manufacturing for schools, student accommodation, Hospitals and the Leisure Industry is becoming ever more popular in modern day construction. The Magply Euroclass A1 board can be used in Off-Site Manufacturing as a fire mitigation sheathing board for Timber Frame, Steel Frame & Sip Panels. Magply provides a fire-safe, lightweight environmentally friendly solution for OSM and as a high performance, multi-functional board, Magply features a Magnesium Oxide formulation which is manufactured from a production process that ensures a very low chloride content enhancing both stability and durability. Crucially, Magply carries internationally recognised accreditations confirming the boards’ ability to deliver fire integrity and excellent racking strength, impact or pull-out resistance and all round ease of use in a variety of off-site.
Steel Frame Partition Boards:
Magply provides a fire-safe, lightweight environmentally friendly solution for dry-lining. As a high performance, multi-functional board, Magply features a Magnesium Oxide formulation and is manufactured from a production process that ensures a very low chloride content enhancing both stability and durability. Crucially, Magply carries internationally recognised accreditations confirming the boards’ ability to deliver 90 minutes fire integrity and 69 minutes insulation under test conditions. Furthermore Magply offers excellent racking strength, impact or pull-out resistance and all round ease of use in a variety of applications. Magply has been tested under BS EN 1364-1:2015 Steel Frame Partition.
Roofing Boards:
Magply recovery and protection boards have been developed to meet the roofing industry needs for a cost effective, lightweight and fireproof board that will provide an inert and stable separating layer for all types of waterproofing overlay applications. Magply can also be used as a tough, durable and reusable protection layer over completed installations. 9mm Magply provides a fire-safe, lightweight environmentally friendly solution for Spandrel Panels.
Dry Lining Boards:
Magply is ideally placed for Dry-Lining specifications that require quick installation, less weight, breathability and fire protection and boards are manufactured 1200mm x 2400mm in 6,9,12 and 18mm, bespoke sizes are available on request. As a high performance, multi-functional board Magply features a Magnesium formulation to offer a fire-rated environmentally friendly board for the highest quality dry lining.

Brighton apartments accessing the versatile performance benefits of Magply
The task of adding an extra floor to an apartment building in the heart of Brighton has seen the 12mm version of IPP Ltd.’s Magply boards employed in a variety of applications, both internally and externally: highlighting the well proven MOS product’s fire performance, weather resistance and overall economic benefits.
The local branch of Jewson, located in Portslade, has supplied Godfrey Investments with 295 sheets of the 12mm boards for use in the construction of a parapet around the new roof terraces being created atop the three-storey structure. Then more of the boards are being used inside the quartet of luxury apartments.
Godfrey Investments was also responsible for the original development, completed in 2014, and the project has even benefitted from having the same site manager, Hassam Yesilada return to take charge of the extension work which is utilising a structural steel framing system (SFS) to create a lightweight third floor addition. The four new flats – expected to be marketed at £650-700K – are all two bedroom and two bathroom with extensive living space.
Hassam commented: “The new third floor, roof extension has been designed in structural steelwork and SFS by Nathan Chilvers of Brighton based Moshin Architects, though the construction does also feature timber joists which had to be properly protected. It was originally considered to use the industry standard calcium silicate boards there and for sheathing all the wall panels, but at £140 a sheet the cost would have been prohibitive. We therefore sought an alternative through Jewsons that has the required fire performance and Magply came in at less than half the price, while IPP also assisted with the design details for protecting the joists. It has been straightforward to cut and fit using an extract cutter and self-tapping screws. We’ve also used gun applied intumescent and Tyvek tape to complete the joints in most places.
Internally the Magply MOS boards being covered in two layers of plasterboard while around the terraces the liquid rubber membrane is being dressed up the face of the parapet walls and covered by a capping. Definitely, this is a unique project for central Brighton with every property having a scenic roof terrace and the work has gone well.”
With a Class 1 fire rating and backed by BBA Agrement certification, Magply MOS boards present a fire-safe and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plywood or OSB products. Additionally, the unique production process keeps the chloride content to just 0.01%, enhancing both stability and long-term durability.
The different thicknesses of panel are also widely used as a substrate board for the direct application of proprietary render systems, as well as for flooring and flat or pitched roof build-ups. Additionally, for the conversion or construction of apartment buildings where fire performance is a top priority, Magply is not just being used as part of the cladding build-up, but also internally to form pattresses behind plasterboard drylining to support the weight of cupboards and bathroom fittings, where the material’s excellent pull out strength is a real advantage.
Magply has it covered
A residential project in Essex is making use of Magply boards for both the internal lining and exterior cladding treatment to an innovative lightweight steel framing system demonstrating the widely specified fire resistant product’s multiple attributes.
The four bedroom new-build and extensions to a neighbouring existing property are being carried out by SP&J Construction, in a joint venture with Uni-Frame and the ARG Group. The intention is to use the current project as a show-site for the rapid build MMC solution and the wide choice of finishes which will be available to future purchasers.
