Schlüter®-LIPROTEC is an intelligent concept that combines lighting and profiles within the tile and stone covering.
A choice of indirect or direct light is available with Schlüter profile technology, allowing you to emphasise curtain walls and illuminate stairways, foyers, bathrooms and more, all with an innovative, unique appearance.
Lighting also helps us to feel more energetic and lifts our mood; it is a known fact that lighting has a direct impact on our brain and our hormone balance via the retina in our eyes. Studies show that light enriched with blue of up to 17,000 Kelvin makes us feel particularly active and can even reduce eye strain and headaches.
Intelligent receivers control the LED strips with power supply units that convert the mains voltage to the 24 V required. Pre-programmed colour changes can be selected using the control system, where you decide the mood with the touch of a button.
If your client is looking for a particular ambiance or to bring brand colours into the design, then the system can be programmed from 16 million colours. Suitable for moisture-rich rooms, the LED strips are completely encapsulated and conform to IP65, allowing subtle detail to be incorporated into the smallest rooms in the house, hotel, or wherever your imagination takes you.

Schlüter-Systems gives feature staircase the edge with illuminated profiles
Industrial Sensor Specialist Longvale Ltd located at Lancaster Park in Burton Upon Trent, have selected Schlüter®-LIPROTEC illuminated profile technology in conjunction with Schlüter®-TREP stair nosing profile to give their feature staircase a unique lighting design with a modern, slip resistant finish, within the entrance to their brand new facility.
Longvale was founded in the mid-1980s and supply products such as Mechanical Switches and Special Sensors from manufacturers around the world to industries ranging from Oil and Gas to Rail and Automotive and many more; however, their new facility now allows them to design and produce bespoke solutions for customers themselves.
Schlüter-Systems has been the market leader in essential accessories for tile and stone since it was founded in 1966 and they provide complete system-solutions and technical support for residential and commercial tile and stone projects, large or small.
Schlüter introduced the new range of illuminated profiles to add a fourth dimension to architecture, with lighting playing an essential role when it comes to inspired design. Schlüter®-LIPROTEC is an intelligent lighting concept that combines lighting and profiles within the tile and stone covering. A choice of indirect or direct light is available, with Schlüter profile technology, allowing you to emphasise curtain walls and illuminate stairways, foyers, bathrooms and more, all with an innovative, unique appearance.

The company responsible for the interior fit-out was Bruton Interiors of Derby, they undertake and project manage building work from new builds to renovations throughout the country.
For this particular project Schlüter®-LIPROTEC-PB with indirect and direct light was combined with the high quality Schlüter®-TREP-E stair nosing profile in a brushed stainless steel finish, turning the staircase into a stunning focal point with an illuminated subtle accent. The Schlüter®-TREP range also improves safety on staircases, maintaining and protecting installations to keep the edges of the tile or natural stone covering intact.
Maurice Parker, tiling contractor chosen for the project are a family business also from Derby that specialise in the supply and installation for domestic and commercial projects, they carried out the installation of the Schlüter®-LIPROTEC and -TREP profiles on to each of the 19 steps.

Illuminated profile innovation New profile system Schlüter®-LIPROTEC
Illuminated profile innovation New profile system Schlüter®-LIPROTEC
World premiere in Munich: With Schlüter®-LIPROTEC illuminated profile technology, Schlüter-Systems will for the first time present an assortment of LED profiles at BAU. With this innovation, the market leader in tile profiles is launching a system that allows designers, planners, and architects to design new and attractive light spaces "within the wall" - with proven Schlüter quality from a single source.
Proper lighting is an essential criterion for the comfort of a room, and overly intense or cold light is often perceived as unpleasant. Schlüter®-LIPROTEC LED profiles allow for individually adjusting the room lighting according to individual preferences. The use of light strips instead of light points creates a particularly homogeneous light impression and users can choose between direct and indirect lighting. Whether daylight, soft light for special quiet zones, or coloured ambient lighting for special design accents, modern LED lighting technology is able to meet every design specification.
The LED strips are specifically designed to match the high quality demands of Schlüter-Systems. They are almost entirely cast, which makes them particularly durable. All LED strips are categorized as protection class IP 65 and are therefore suitable for use in high-moisture areas. The embedded design in high-value aluminum profiles provides ideal protection. As an additional advantage for installers, the LED strips can be individually cut to size without affecting the IP protection class and damaged light strips can also be subsequently replaced. The profiles are simply attached with tile adhesive during the tile installation.
Versatile installation variations Five intelligent profile geometries ensure the use of the illuminated profiles in a wide range of installations, including
Edges of raised platforms and countertops
Illumination of moldings
Illuminated finished edges of wall coverings and baseboard tiles
Illumination of wall disks and on-wall installations
Illuminated frames of flush decoration objects and mirrors
To allow for simple and comfortable operation, the system features state-of-the-art control technology and wireless switching to eliminate the need to hard-wire the illuminated profiles. The switch housings are made of high-quality solid glass or brushed stainless steel and cannot only turn the light on and off, but also dim it in variable ways. The 7-channel version even permits the individual adjustment of the LED strips with regard to color temperature of white LEDs or the color of LEDs in RGB mode.
As a result, Schlüter®-LIPROTEC LED profiles can be used in simple ways to create high-quality, durable lighting options with profiles in a wide range of spatial situations. Thanks to the availability of all system components from a single source, the individual components are guaranteed to be perfectly matched for effective and energy-efficient illumination. Specific complete sets are available for the illumination of edges and wall panels. Further information about the illuminated profile technology of Schlüter-Systems can be found at www.liprotec.com.
