BIOROCK® non-electrical biological sewage treatment plants offers an ideal solution for domestic waste water treatment. The BIOROCK® system consists of a separate settlement tank, which can be an existing traditional brick or concrete septic tank, followed by the BIOROCK® sewage treatment plant.

The BIOROCK Units are a range of compact package biological sewage water treatment plants, denominated in 5,6, 10,15 & 30 person sizes. They are combined with one of our Primary Tanks or an existing septic tank* to create complete sewage treatment systems compliant with BS/EN12566-3. 

*Preferred septic tanks are rectangular shape and 1.5m deep below the inlet pipe. Please contact us for advice on use of an existing septic tank.

BIOROCK Modular Systems

Modular installations are designed using our standard Treatment Units installed in parallel to create systems with up to 200 person capacity. These are ideal for small housing developments, camp sites and caravan parks giving the flexibility to increase the size of the system as and when required.

BIOROCK has a range of Primary Tank Sizes - 2000L, 3000L, 5000L, 7500L, 10,000L and 15,000L. When required we use these units installed in series for larger applications.

Aeration Chambers come in two sizes - 160mm diameter for gravity discharge and 400mm diameter for pumped discharge.

In order to support sustainable development, BIOROCK has developed a sewage treatment plant that does not need electricity or chemicals to work. Making the choice to install a BIOROCK is a sound environmental decision.

Selecting a product that offers a sustainable solution to the problem of waste disposal is a key factor in protecting the local environment. The construction market is becoming increasingly aware of the need for environmentally sustainable solutions to issues such as sewage treatment and the disposal of effluent from off-mains systems. There is a clear shift towards responsible and sustainable products. BIOROCK sewage treatment systems are the acknowledged leader in this rapidly changing market.

Traditional VS BIOROCK
Electrically operated residential sewage treatment plants use power to aerate the raw liquid. There are numerous residential and commercial wastewater treatment techniques on the market:

RBC or “Rotating biological contractor” residential sewage treatment systems: A motor rotates half-submerged discs through the sewage inside the plant. Aerobic bacteria develop on the discs in the liquid; the aerobic phase of the treatment process occurs as the bacteria get oxygenated when the disc is out of the liquid.

SBR or “Sequencing Batch Reactor” residential wastewater treatment systems: This traditional technology involves air blowers or diffusors which “bubble” air through the sewage water to be treated. Some SBR residential wastewater treatment systems have media added to the raw liquid within the “biozone” chamber of the tank. If this is the case the system is called a SAF for Submerged Aerated Filter.

Another technique involves pumps which spray the raw sewage on a “media” surface which is “colonized » by the necessary bacteria for the water treatment. The raw liquid gets aerated when it gets sprayed over the “media” surface. This technology requires electricity for the aerobic phase of the wastewater treatment process as pumps are required.

These electric wastewater treatment techniques are very high in commissioning, running costs (spare parts replacement) and energy consumption.

Our residential wastewater treatment system is from the “trickling filter” family type of product. These plants use various different filtration “media” types. This media is always essential for the effective treatment of domestic wastewater as it allows the necessary bacteria to grow and digest pollutants. Some manufacturers rely on organic media types such as coco fiber or nutshells. These organic media types need expensive maintenance and frequent replacement as they are bio-degradable and thus may break down over time.

BIOROCK Sewage treatment
At BIOROCK we have developed a special media material for our residential wastewater treatment technology. Our media is very highly resistant to degradation and remains extremely stable over the long term. It requires little maintenance and ensures unique purification results. This media is exclusively developed for BIOROCK and dedicated to foul wastewater treatment.

Today, we are proud to present our 3rd Generation of BIOROCK Wastewater Solutions, resulting from 3 years of in-house development and in close collaboration with a National Research Center.

A new Generation of Non-Electric Sewage Treatment Plants

This new generation of revolutionary products is a continuation of our performance research in domestic wastewater purification. This technological challenge, which has always been the driving force behind the growth of our company, is also at the heart of our mission: Bring the best residential sewage treatment solution to the market, offering quality services and products to our customers around the world.

The new range of treatment plants is available in a product line from 4 to 20 People Equivalent. The « last one » of the BIOROCK brand is the “All-In-One” MONOBLOCK system, offering both a Primary Tank and a BIOROCK Treatment Unit in a single, extremely compact tank.

This technological innovation is available in two versions: The MONOBLOCK-2 system, equipped with a 2000 liters Primary Compartment (for Primary Treatment), and the MONOBLOCK-3, equipped with a 3000 liters Primary Compartment. These two product configurations make it possible to widen the field of application and to propose a product responding exactly to each project and according to the organic load to be treated.

Very Compact
The new Generation of BIOROCK Sewage Treatment Plants is positioned as one of the most compact on the market, with a Primary Tank and the treatment unit being combined into one single tank. Thus, the footprint of the MONOBLOCK solution is extremely restricted: only 6m2.

Easy and Quick Installation
The MONOBLOCK solutions are very light and delivered « ready to be installed », ensuring a simple and fast installation for a minimum of degradation of the garden. The installation of the MONOBLOCK Treatment Unit can be carried out in one single working day, ensuring minimal installation costs.

Economical and reliable

The acquisition cost of the MONOBLOCK Onsite Treatment Plant is particularly competitive in a busy national STP market. The savings in the purchase of the product are complemented by those related to the operating costs of the MONOBLOCK line, which are among the lowest in the market.
