FE STUDENTS GIVE OUR TRAINING A SEAL OF APPROVAL
We has linked up with an FE college in a new initiative to help current students understand foam sealant tape technology and the need to better seal doors and windows.
Our experts provided a group of masters’ students on courses at Abingdon & Witney FE College’s Construction Skills Academy, with an overview of foam sealant tapes. We also explained why it’s important to ensure windows are properly and effectively sealed to prevent energy loss and protect property against the elements.
The move, an extension of our skills development and learning programme, saw our UK sales and operations director Andy Swift, cover the benefits of using the latest foam sealant tapes and how to install them with a Q&A at the end of the session.
Doors and windows account for almost a quarter (21%) of the total air loss of the average house, and adding the joints between walls, floors and ceilings brings the figure up to 50%. Andy Swift explained that while airflow is desirable, you can eliminate 50% of heat loss while still retaining some natural air flow.
Statistics reveal that in most residential properties, heat losses are overwhelmingly replaced by artificial heating rather than through solar energy or internal warmth. This means that reducing heat losses in the home is paramount in the battle to lower energy consumption.
The initiative reflects the wider moves to help young people in the UK looking to pursue a career in construction, building design and architecture related sectors, understand the types of products available and how to specify them.
Following the success of the first event, further events at other technical colleges could be on the cards in the next 12 months to support UK construction and building training syllabuses.
Andy Swift said: “We had a good number attend as the initiative was scheduled into the students’ timetable. Developing links with academic facilities is important in securing the company’s current and future workforce needs and helping those taking up specification and design roles to understand better what’s involved in protecting properties against the elements and energy loss.
“It also helps us to tap into the fresh insight and academic prowess that students bring as part of our commitment to supporting skills development and learning. We have a strategy to grow and increasing our engineering capabilities through nurturing strong academic links, is a beneficial part of our plans.”
One of the students said: “The session was extremely useful, providing a thorough understanding and insight into important window installation processes, the products and how they can improve efficiencies. This helps us to boost our own core skills and development, which we can then take forward in any future job.”
Guidance on the latest airtightness products and sealing solutions, which included details our range of gap sealing solutions ISO-BLOCO WIN2WALL and ISO-BLOCO ONE, also featured. Up to 70% cost savings can be achieved when using these tapes for high performance window sealing, rather than the current three component systems.
ISO-Chemie OUR TRADE FAIR INNOVATIONS AT BAU 2025
In line with the BAU 2025 motto “The future of building”, we presented our range of future-oriented, sustainable products for energy-efficient building sealing at the trade fair.
At our stand, visitors learned how building joints can be cleverly sealed - with pre-compressed joint sealing tapes, hybrid multifunctional sealing tapes, high-performance window and façade connection foils as well as individually adaptable pre-wall installation systems or versatile substructure profiles. Our energy-efficient sealing solutions were particularly impressive thanks to their adaptability to particularly demanding surfaces, time-saving, practical and easy installation and a particularly high degree of customization options.
High-performance joint sealing tape ISO-BLOCO 600 “MAXIBOND EDITION”
High-performance joint sealing tape with extreme adhesive strength
With ISO-BLOCO 600 “MAXIBOND EDITION”, we have launched a new sealing tape solution for clean, time-saving and weather-independent application on difficult substrates such as clinker and bricks at BAU. The innovative BG 1-certified PUR joint sealing tape is characterized by its exceptionally high initial adhesion. Thanks to its high elasticity, it also adapts perfectly to joints on both sides. Flexibility, weather resistance and excellent insulating properties make the tape the ideal product for professional sealing in renovations and new builds. It is ideally suited for professional window sealing on abutment masonry and for structural joints on clinker brick façades. It is also widely used in solid, lightweight metal and timber construction.
Optimum façade protection against water run-off
Another trade fair highlight was our ISO-TOP RAIN PROTECTION PROFILE, which is designed for reliable drainage of rainwater at the upper horizontal connection of building elements. Unacceptable water accumulation and backwater can thus be avoided even during the critical shell construction phase. Made of high-quality, pressure-resistant XPS, the wedge was specially developed for use with pre-wall installation systems such as ISO-TOP WINFRAMER and is recommended for double and multi-layer façade constructions in areas with increased water loads.
Window connection foil with folding technology - ISO-CONNECT VARIOFLEX SD+
Particularly flexible window and façade connection foils
We also presented exciting innovations in the field of window and façade connection films, which impressed visitors with their flexible adaptability and simple yet secure installation. The new, moisture-regulating ISO-CONNECT VARIOFLEX SD film for internal and external window sealing attracted particular interest. With a variable sd value adjustment, the film reacts to the seasonal differences in temperature and humidity. This enables a high drying effect to be achieved in the joint all year round. With the self-adhesive COMPLETE F and COMPLETE F DUO variants, no additional bonding is required. The liner can be removed in a particularly user-friendly way thanks to a narrow, adhesive-free surface.
With ISO-CONNECT VARIOFLEX SD+, we presented the universally applicable film with folding technology. This makes the film particularly flexible to use and enables all-round sealing between the window frame and the building structure. When the fold is closed, the film is used as the COMPLETE F variant with adhesive strips applied to one side. When the fold is opened, the film is transformed into the COMPLETE F DUO variant with self-adhesive strips on both sides.
Visitors to BAU were also able to find out about our new variants of the temperature and weather-resistant ISO-CONNECT OUTSIDE EPDM window and façade film. The stretchable film is now also available as a “COMPLETE” version with full-surface adhesive film for quick and easy installation and as a “FLEECE” version with a fleece coating for direct plastering, painting and adhesion.
Flexible moulded profiles from the ISO-TOP BASE range
Accurate installation of building elements
The versatile ISO-TOP BASE floor recess system profile was also presented at the trade fair stand. The thermally insulating and flexible moulded profile was specially developed for the installation and sealing of floor-to-ceiling building elements. A modular plug-in system enables the right profile for the connection to the frame with an individual height structure.
For the thermally optimized substructure of lift and slide elements, we especially recommend the pressure-resistant substructure profile ISO-TOP BASE HS. ISO-TOP BASE is also available as a “PREFAB” version for pre-production in the factory. Assembly times on the construction site can thus be shortened and made more predictable and reliable. The project-specific prefabricated profiles can be supplied as a perfect fit for all common profile systems.
Project-related pre-wall installation solutions
We also used the trade fair platform to present our wide range of pre-wall installation systems for window installation in the insulation level to planners, architects, dealers and fabricators. The various types of our ISO-TOP WINFRAMER pre-wall installation system are tailored to different building situations. We offer so-called “PREFAB editions” for project-related prefabrication in the factory. ISO-TOP WINFRAMER system scantlings can be produced individually and in the desired lengths for workshop installation to suit the project. Alternatively, prefabricated, complete frames can also be ordered. Pre-production in the factory has many advantages for fabricators. This is because work processes can be optimized in a time- and cost-efficient manner under controlled conditions, and factory assembly independent of weather conditions prevents problematic assembly delays and reduces assembly times on the construction site - important aspects given the prevailing shortage of fitters!
ISO-TOP CONSTRUCTION PLATES WF3 complement our range for individual, constructive adaptations for installation and sealing details in the ISO-TOP WINFRAMER FRONT WALL INSTALLATION SYSTEM. The adapter plates can be used in combination with system scantlings or substructure profiles, lining strips, window sill moldings and when fitting roller or external venetian blind boxes.
Ready for the future with hybrid technology
Our building consultant team also presented the new generation of particularly high-performance joint sealing tapes and multifunctional tapes at the trade fair, which are equipped with the hybrid technology developed by us. This modern technology makes it possible to combine the high air and driving rain tightness of window connection films with the optimum expansion force and high permanent movement absorption capacity of pre-compressed flexible polyurethane foam joint sealing tapes.
All-round protection for joints in lightweight metal construction
Anyone interested in sealing solutions for lightweight metal construction could find out all about the coordinated products of our ISOM METAL CONSTRUCTION SEALING SYSTEM at the joint stand with the International Association for Lightweight Metal Construction (IFBS).
BAUFUGE 4.0 - Building waterproofing of the next generation
With our trade fair appearance at BAU 2025, we once again demonstrated our innovative strength as a manufacturer of building sealing solutions and showed that ISO-Chemie can actively shape the future of construction - true to our future concept “BAUFUGE 4.0”.
