Heritage Cast Aluminium from Alumasc repeats history at Stamford Courtyard

A Heritage Cast Aluminium rainwater system from Alumasc Water Management Solutions (AWMS), has been chosen for use on the redevelopment of a historic site in the Stourbridge village of Enville. Stamford Courtyard sits in the heart of the village, and required a system that would not only meet performance requirements, but also remain in keeping with original elements of the unique site.

The Stamford Courtyard development was delivered by main contractor Martin Evans Construction for the Enville and Stalybridge Estate, and comprises residential and office space in a beautiful courtyard setting. The site dates back to the 1800s; once home to the Stamford Arms Hotel and its outbuildings, which included a bakery, brewhouse, staff cottage and coachhouse/stable block. Built by the Earl of Stamford in 1857, the hotel accommodated visitors to the gardens at Enville Hall. Whilst the hotel was demolished in 1950, three of its outbuildings have been preserved and refurbished into charming residences, alongside three newbuild residential properties and an office suite.

Martin Evans Construction had used the Heritage Cast Aluminium range on previous projects for the Enville and Stalybridge Estate. Their experience of the system’s installation, aesthetics and performance led to its specification for Stamford Courtyard, over alternative plastic systems that had failed meet design requirements.

The Heritage system offers a comprehensive range of traditional gutter profiles, with half-round, square or rectangular pipes. Following a full site survey by AWMS, half-round gutters and down pipes were supplied for the rooflines of all the buildings at Stamford Courtyard, installed by Martin Evans Construction.

Heritage has been designed to provide all the essential architectural features appropriate to traditionally designed buildings, whilst being fully in tune with modern fast-track building contracts. It can be finished with BBA certificated powder coatings in a choice of colours, or, as is the case with Stamford Courtyard, can offer a textured finish in black, to replicate the cast iron that would have been used on the original buildings.

The Heritage system is manufactured in the UK in accordance with BS EN 8530 (formerly BS 2997) and boasts a life expectancy of 40 years in rural/suburban areas and up to 25 years in industrial/marine areas. It is durable and non-corrodible, and its inherent light weight makes it easy to transport, handle and fix.

Aluminium is 100% recyclable.
