Celebrating 200 Years With The RNLI

Brewers were thrilled to support the celebration of 200 years of the RNLI, providing all the paint and application advice needed to maintain the incredible display of boats at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent.

Area Development Manager, Shayne McCosh has been supporting the museum for over three years, providing advice, specifications, colour matching and free product to refresh the UK’s largest collection of historic lifeboats, which together have saved hundreds of lives off the coasts of the UK and Ireland.

From an 1897 pulling and sailing lifeboat, to the familiar Arun class and Blue Peter inflatable inshore lifeboats, members of the public can explore how lifeboats have evolved over the past century. Interactive displays, archive film and audio clips bring to life the moment of a launch, coping with violent seas and how technology has helped create ever safer and faster craft.

As Brewers have celebrated our 120th anniversary the same year the RNLI celebrate their 200th anniversary, it has been wonderful to show support for an organisation that has been saving lives for two centuries. In those 200 years, dedicated volunteers from the RNLI across the UK have saved a total of 146,000 lives that could have been lost at sea or in dangerous waters.
