Paperless delivery system launched at Lignacite’s Brandon plant

April 2022

To improve the logistics operation at Lignacite and move towards a greener and even more sustainable business model, we are pleased to announce the implementation of an app-based electronic proof of delivery (EPOD) system for deliveries dispatched from our Brandon plant in Suffolk.

The phasing in of the new system began in January and was completed on March 15th with the transition to digital-only (paperless) delivery notes.

Replacing multi-part paper forms with the EPOD system will provide the following benefits to our customers moving forwards:

Allow contactless proof of delivery – helping to reduce Covid transmission
Remove/reduce delivery paperwork
Allow for electronic delivery notes to be emailed direct to site and/or branch, plus accounts payable
Provide immediate proof of delivery via email once goods have been received
Improve delivery communications for customers, site delivery staff and drivers
Remove/reduce the need for paper handling and help speed up order processing for site administration staff and customer finance departments

Nick Franks, COO of Lignacite, commented: “We are always looking for ways to improve the sustainability and eco-credentials of our business. The introduction of the EPOD system is another positive step forward in that journey, and one we feel offers multiple benefits to our customers. Not only will it aid the smooth and efficient delivery of our products to their sites, but it will also improve communications while reducing admin at both ends.

“Over time, we will look to implement EPOD at our Nazeing plant to make deliveries across the business paperless – further digitising our operation, improving our environmental footprint and enhancing our customer experience.”

In the event goods are not delivered due to damages or haulage exceptions, Lignacite’s customer service team will email through a delivery note once the order has been rectified and/or redelivered.

At present, customer collections will still be administered using paper copies, moving to the electronic version in the coming months.
