Adding value by reducing effort at Tadpole Garden Village

Tadpole Garden Village is a multi-housebuilder development in Blunsdon, Swindon, which includes hundreds of homes constructed by long-standing Brickfab customer David Wilson Homes (part of Barratt Developments Plc).

To ensure a continuity of supply and guaranteed quality, David Wilson Homes looked to Brickfab to supply from across its product range. With 202 plots to develop, DWH understood the importance of a reliable supply partner and the obvious benefits of factory construction for features such as arches and chimneys.

In keeping with Brickfab’s customer-focused approach, we did more than just supply products to order. In fact, Brickfab was involved at multiple stages, taking responsibility for product design (2D and 3D CAD drawings), site measurements and product consultations via a series of site visits, buyer consultations, manufacture, and supply with considerately timed flexible delivery.

The need for flexibility and empathy with the customer continues to be key for this site. Brickfab has been able to expedite deliveries and additional orders as the customer works with seasonal peaks in homebuyer exchanges and completions. Furthermore, Brickfab consulted with the site team and the buyer at DWH to ensure stock requirements were managed, latterly amending the agreed order and production scheduling to accommodate revised house designs as the site develops and phases are completed.

Products in plan:

Brick specials (including internal/external angles, plinths, gables, extended bricks and chamfered blocks) numbering in the thousands.
257 arches (flat gauge and segmental).
62 brick clad chimneys (‘Thames’, gable end and gable ladder).

“Our partnership approach adds real value to our relationship with the DWH team on this site, and their regional office,” explains National Sales Manager Robert Evans. “With so much going on on-site for the customer, we were able to offer ‘just in time’ delivery and simple order call-offs, as well as collecting bricks from site to ensure perfect colour matching. In this way, with careful order scheduling and design support, we were able to ensure that each time a house was going up the right brick products were on the right plot at the right time.”
