A beam detector is an instrument that is used to detect the presence of fire. It works by emitting a beam of light and then detecting the reflection of that beam. In particular, a reflective beam detector consists of a transmitter and a receiver unit. The transmitter sends out a light beam that is reflected back by a reflector located on the other side of the building space. The receiver unit then measures the intensity of the reflected beam of light and compares it against a pre-set threshold. If the intensity of the reflected beam of light falls below the threshold, then the alarm is triggered, indicating the presence of a fire. Beam detectors are commonly used in large, open spaces such as warehouses, factories, and shopping malls, where other types of smoke detectors may not be effective.
