Gravity Retaining Walls
Andacrib is a modular pre-cast concrete crib retaining wall system which has been designed to cater for the most stringent loading conditions demanded of structures in highway, industrial and commercial sectors.
Permacrib is a timber crib retaining wall system. The patented lightweight interlocking crib components form a series of open cell modules, these are then filled with well graded stone to create a secure retaining wall.
Lockstone is a modular, dry laid, interlocking, hollow, concrete block walling system which can be constructed to form complex horizontal and vertical curves.
Ideal for use where space is at a premium and traditional gravity solutions such as crib walls may take up too much space.
Gabion Retaining Walls are formed using a series of rectangular steel mesh baskets. Either woven or welded mesh at various thickness and corrosion protection are used, depending on the quality of finish required.
Reinforced Soil Systems
Phi Group can provide a range of different facing options for vertical reinforced soil structures. The most common is the modular block facing.
Textomur consists of horizontal geogrids or geotextiles typically at 600mm vertical centres within compacted cohesive or granular fill material.

Phi Group support Go Wild 2018
Phi Group support Go Wild 2018
Phi Group are still busy working on Section 2 of the A465 Heads of the Valleys project with Costain, with several structures under construction. When Hywel Woolf, Costain's Environemnt Manager asked if we would like to be inviolved with an event called Go Wild, organised by Blaenau Gwent Copunty Borough Council, we were delighted to able to say yes.
In the picture you can see our Senior Supervisor for the project Jamie Knill, presenting our cheque to Chris Engle (Infrastructure Service Manager) and Nadine Morgan (Biodiversity Project Officer), both of whom are organising the event. We hope the event is a great success.
Information on the project can be found below.
Go Wild returns to Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar on Saturday 9th June 2018 from 10am until 3pm.
The event organised by the Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, is being held during Wales Nature Week which is about connecting people with nature. This year’s theme is ‘Eco Friendly Futures’, the aim is to raise awareness on how to be more environmentally friendly, and discover ways of being more sustainable for the future, whilst learning about what we can do for nature and what nature can do for us. We would like to give thanks to the A465 contractors Costain, RPS, CAN, PHI Group along with Gwent Wildlife Trust, Public Service Board and Natural Resources Wales, who are kindly sponsoring Go Wild 2018.
This event is completely free and promises lots to see and do for all the family. You can meet wild animals such as owls, hedgehogs, butterflies and moths. Find out what it’s like to be a bee keeper by getting up close with honey bees in the Bee Tent Experience. Pop along to the colourful recycled plastic bottle flower display, created by the school children of Blaenau Gwent. Discover lots of nature activities such as guided walks, seed bombing and eco craft activities.
So come and join us for a fun packed GO WILD DAY OUT and discover nature together!
