CPM Designing Reinforced Retaining Walls: The Redi-Rock PC System

In very simple terms, the Redi-Rock PC System utilizes a 1540 lb. concrete blocks with a vertical core slot cast through the center, allowing us to wrap a 12 in. wide strip of geogrid through the block. Because the geogrid wraps through the block, there is virtually no way for the geogrid to pull out at the connection. There is also no friction component to the connection; it is weight independent. Put another way, as you move towards the top of the wall where the weight on the connection drops off, you maintain full connection strength with the PC System. The elegance of the PC System is its simplicity. There are only two components: the block and the geogrid strip. There are no fiberglass pins, rods, connectors, or other parts and pieces which can be accidentally left out during construction. One of the benefits of the PC System is unparalleled connection strength at the top of a wall. This is extremely important when designing walls with seismic loads, high live loads, tiered structures, or other applications which require significant connection strength near the top of the wall.
