Berkeley Range: Versatility In Replica Steel Windows And New Build
The Berkeley Window was originally created in order to replace existing 1920s and 1930s steel windows that were predominantly single pane leaded glass, exterior putty glazed. For the Berkeley window, Crittall developed an entirely new series of hot rolled sections where a solid steel chamfer replicates exterior putty glazing, whilst the interior glazing improves access for reglazing and security. Berkeley offers an ideal solution for both replacement projects and new construction where minimum sightlines, maximum daylight, and fine detail are desired. The system is suitable for high-end residential, institutional and commercial applications.
Corporate W20 Range: Steel Windows For The Future And The Past
The Corporate W20 windows and doors range offers great versatility. No other steel window system offers such an extensive range of sections, allowing the designer the opportunity to create many styles including elaborate composite windows.
An effective weatherstripping system, and the option of double glazing up to 14mm when gasket glazed, and 16mm wet glazed ensure excellent thermal insulation properties, and the system’s large opening casements and slim frame make it particularly popular with conservationists and planners.
Cold Formed Steel Doors: Commercial Steel Doors
Crittall’s door range is enhanced by an extensive range of narrow-style, hollow-profile, cold formed doors
HOMELIGHT Plus™: Residential Steel Windows
Crittall Homelight Plus™ windows provide maximum daylight due to their small profile design, and are designed for applications where smaller typical sizes do not require the weight or depth of the Corporate 2000, Corporate W20 or Berkeley sections.

Crittall becomes member of the SWA
Crittall Windows Ltd is delighted to announce that we have joined the Steel Window Association (SWA), the industry trade body that represents the majority of UK producers in the sector.
The SWA supports its member companies with a wide-ranging service relating to product development, market research and promotion and this helps ensure that each member operates to the highest industry standards.
Commenting on the announcement, Crittall Sales and Marketing Director, Russell Ager, said, “We are delighted to now be part of the SWA and look forward to working actively with other members in promoting the technical and aesthetic benefits associated with steel windows across the domestic, commercial and specialist security window markets.‘’
Darren Lloyd, President, SWA, commented “The Steel Window Association is pleased to welcome Crittall Windows into its membership; Crittall is a world-leading brand, manufacturing steel windows and doors to the very highest standards. We are looking forward to Crittall working with us to help develop new products, meet ever-changing building regulations and develop awareness in the construction industry of the need to appoint a trade-accredited member to a project.”
Crittall at Duxford Airfield ‘then and now’
Crittall Windows still stand strong at Duxford Airfield hangars almost 100 years on. The hangers, built in 1917 were used during WW2, and managed to withstand German air raids. Duxford airfield was built during the First World War and was one of the earliest Air Force stations. After the war, Duxford was one of the few airfields left open, used as a training school and later a fighting station.
Not only did these windows survive a war, they also survived the blowing up of an adjacent hangar for a Hollywood film. Battle of Britain, a famous 1960’s film depicting the lives of RAF men, was hugely popular and well-known. The film was partly filmed at Duxford, with a hangar being blown up for a scene in the movie, and somehow the windows adjacent still stand. Not only does this show the longevity of Crittall, it also shows our place in history which still stands strong.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the RAF and 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain film, we felt it appropriate to share some of our archived then and now photos of the Duxford Airfield Crittall hangars.
