A steel Lintel specialist Birtley commissioned and built a brand new plant in 1996 making it one of the most advanced facilities for hot dipped galvanizing across the whole of Europe.

Birtley has the only complete range of steel lintels manufactured from structural grade steels: S275JR/S355JR to EN10025- 2:2004. All Supergalv lintels are Hot-Dip Galvanized, post fabrication, in accordance with BS EN 1461:2009, giving an unrivalled 65μm zinc coating to all surfaces.All external cavity wall lintels (exc SX/XHD) are insulated with expanded polystyrene to BS EN 13163. Bowater by Birtley launch new FD30S Fire Door

Bowater by Birtley has introduced an exclusive new FireShield FD30S fire door after successfully securing BS EN 1634 certification and PAS 24.

The door is manufactured using a sustainable agrifiber core, a material recognised as a green product that can contribute to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits.
A solid timber frame and durable GRP facing completes the construction of the door, making it one of only a handful on the market to offer a FD30S certified door to this standard.

Following rigorous, independent testing to European Standards at a specialist test house in Germany, the Bowater FireShield FD30S has been proven to maintain its integrity beyond the required minimum 30 minutes, preventing the passage of flames and hot gases.

In addition, the full FireShield FD30S range has been created as BIM models (available on www.bimstore.co.uk) to deliver accurate and seamless specification whilst contributing to the ‘golden thread’ and digital record of information for each building.

Available in a wide range of colours and a solid six panel, long panel or flush design, the FireShield FD30S delivers a fire door solution without compromising on style. The doorsets are fitted with Yale hardware including the Auto Secure multi-point lock for added security.

Birtley Group welcomes two new appointments to enhance customer support

Birtley Group have expanded its team with two new appointments in it’s finance department and bespoke windpost and masonry support service.

Scott Mackrell, a university graduate with over six years’ experience in the manufacturing sector, has taken on the role of Design Engineer at Birtley Lintels.

As a key member of the team, Scott has joined the team responsible for designing bespoke windposts and masonry support for projects across the UK.

Laura Carter joins Birtley Group’s as a Credit Control Assistant after 12 years of working for Nike’s finance department. She brings to the role a wealth of experience working in customer accounts and will initially be responsible for Bowater’s Door Sales Ledgers

Both appointments will support the Group as it continues to grow and further improve customer service levels, whilst increasing efficiencies across all group brands.

“Having gained experience in a number of leading manufacturing companies, I was keen to secure a role that would allow me to develop the skills I acquired at university and put them into practice.
