Metal Gutta the only UK manufacturer of copper, Zinc and Stainless Steel guttering & rainwater systems.

Our gutter rainwater systems have been designed so any competent DIY enthusiast or contractor can install them with no specialist tools required.

Coppa Gutta - Copper Rainwater Systems:

A naturally beautiful material that looks elegant against virtually any building material.

Supplied in a natural finish our Copper Guttering components will naturally age in a couple of months through various shades of brown eventually forming a verdigris patina.

Why copper guttering?

Each of our three copper guttering profiles and copper downpipes are made from 0.6mm copper, which should give a material life in excess of 100 Years.

Copper is the most eco-friendly guttering material available

Approximately 60% of the material content used in the production of our copper guttering is from recycled copper. Your new copper gutters will be virtually maintenance-free and will require no painting. Copper guttering works as a natural biocide purifying the water to stop the build up of algae, making it the perfect partner for your rainwater harvesting system.

Stainless Gutta - Stainless Steel Rainwater Systems:

A hard durable material with a natural unifinished light metallic grey surface gives this gutter an ultra modern appeal.

Our Stainless Steel guttering systems are very hard wearing and virtually maintenance free.

Zinc Gutta - Zinc Rainwater Systems:

Like our Copper guttering our Zinc gutters suit a multitude of building fabrics.

Supplied in its natural light silver form, Zinc will age over the coming months darkening to a beautiful graphite grey colour.

Copper – for rainwater harvesting and roof ridge flashing.

Copper – for rainwater harvesting and roof ridge flashing.

Coppa Gutta (TM of Good Directions Ltd) is the only manufacturer in the UK supplying copper rainwater systems and have specialised in copper guttering since 1992. Copper used for gutters and down pipes can form an integral part of a rainwater harvesting strategy. Copper does not rust and turn the water orange and has a mild disinfecting effect on the water - particularly relevant for storage of untreated rainwater.

Copper is a wholly natural material present in and essential to all plants, animals and humans. Copper is 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly. Once installed, which is easy with ready-made components and silicone sealant, the gutter will last in excess of 100 years with very minimal maintenance. Besides its high corrosion resistance and attractive appearance it also acts as an algaecide and fungicide, keeping growths such as moss and lichens to a minimum, with obvious advantages when it comes to keeping gutters clear and harvesting water.

To complement the range of guttering a copper ridge flashing product is also available. For a low cost, natural way to reduce repetitive and often dangerous roof cleaning, installing copper ridge flashing will help to diminish the growth of moss, algae and lichen build up on the roof.

Not only can this build up create a dull and dirty looking roof, it can also cause many structural problems. Even the thinnest layer of moss will act like a sponge, absorbing water and therefore increasing the weight and stress on the roof, shortening its productive life span. Frost can also become a problem pushing tiles up and cracking them.

Another advantage to keeping lichen from growing is the reduced risk of airborne infection from fungus aspergillus niger, a significant cause of allergic and respiratory illness in humans.

Moss build up on roofs has become more prevalent today since the Clean Air act, which reduced the output of sulphur into the atmosphere via fossil fuels. Moss would have previously been killed off by the sulphur in the atmosphere and now requires direct action to prevent its spread.

Once installed our copper ridge flashing will react with the air and rain causing the copper to oxidise, producing a fungicide called copper sulphate, a highly effective moss killer which will last for many years.

Nine Reasons to Choose Copper Guttering.

May 2015

Nine reasons to choose copper guttering.

1. Eco Friendly
Many customers today want to lower their carbon footprint and reduce their impact on the planet. Copper is the perfect choice for this as it is 100% recyclable and one of the few metals that is fully sustainable, as to date only 12% of the worlds current known reserves have ever been mined, with most mined copper still in use today.

2. Perfect for rainwater harvesting
Water conservation is also becoming increasingly popular. Copper acts as an algaecide and fungicide, keeping growths such as moss and lichen to a minimum, therefore keeping gutters clear and excellent for water harvesting. Copper also mildly disinfects the water, which is great for putting on plants as it has a balanced pH and is free from chemicals such as chlorine.

3. Natural
Copper is a wholly natural material present in and essential to plants, animals and humans. Unlike other materials such as lead, copper is non-toxic and does not accumulate in the body. A deficiency in copper is one factor in the increased risk of developing heart disease.

4. Easy to install
Copper guttering can be installed by any competent tradesperson with no specialist tools required. The gutter profiles are joined together quickly and with the minimum of effort simply using silicone sealant which has a minimum life of 25 years, together with copper pop rivets.

5. Long life
Copper used for guttering has a life expectancy of at least 100 years.

6. Durability
When copper is exposed to the elements, it protects itself by developing a green patina over time, ensuring durability and resistance to corrosion in virtually any atmosphere. Unlike other materials copper does not suffer from underside corrosion.

7. Low maintenance
Copper requires no decoration, cleaning and virtually no maintenance other than the removal of debris that may fall into the guttering.

8. Cost effective
Over the life cycle of a building copper generally is one of the most competitive building materials available.

9. Health and Safety
With growing awareness of environmental issues and increasing concern for health and safety of those constructing and maintaining buildings, copper is more than ever the most cost effective, adaptable roofing and guttering material of the future.
