Solution to Government cladding ban
A render cladding system for use above 18 metres:
Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the government is due to ban the use of flammable cladding materials on buildings over 18 metres, but a UK manufacturer has a tried and tested solution.
In new regulation, only cladding rated to Class A1 or A2 will be allowed for use on high-rise buildings that contains flats, as well as hospitals, residential care premises and student accommodation.
The ProWall solution
The ProWall rendered cladding system, from UK manufacturer SAS Europe is classified as A2-s1,d0 ‘reaction to fire’ and can be used under the new building regulations. SAS Europe launched the cladding in 2005, as a new solution to give a rendered finish to non-masonry structures and can be used on both timber and steel frame buildings.
High performing system:
The cladding system comprises of high-performing products fitted by trained applicators with staged sign-off and provides a solution for use on high-rise buildings up to and over 18 metres.
Rob Johnson, Technical Consultant at SAS Europe said:
“We provide training for applicators at our Training College, with hands-on day courses and testing to ensure our rendered cladding is installed to a high standard."
"We have also developed a programme of CPD seminars for architects and designers, taking time to explain considerations for cladding, safety, and durability.”
LABC Warranty and Premier Guarantee Product Approval
Choose Rendered Rainscreen Cladding
The ProWall seamless rendered rainscreen system has again been certified with LABC Warranty and Premier Guarantee Product Approval. These third-party guarantees add to the 60-year BBA durability certificate that the ProWall system has held since 2013. 03 Sandford St Martins Primary SchoolThe cavity-based rainscreen is a hassle-free option for new-build timber frame buildings, having been developed for this purpose. It provides a rendered surface coupled with a free-draining cavity, providing breathable buildings with a tough, attractive and low maintenance façade. The adaptable system can also be fitted using ‘helping hands’ systems to steel frame constructions, making it an ideal choice for larger public buildings. With integrated fire safety, premium render carrier boards and a high-quality render finish, there are a host of reasons why ProWall is top choice for many architects and developers. “We are finding that ProWall rainscreen is being chosen for an increasingly wide range of builds, from one off architect-designed homes to local authority commissioned leisure centres and schools. We expect the use of ProWall to continue to grow in 2018 as it is such a great option for timber frame new builds, and we have increasing repeat customers.” Adam Powell, Technical Consultant.
ProWall has gained accreditation under the robust technical requirements as a Premier Guarantee Product, who have approved the system to perform to a consistently high-quality standard and remain durable for a minimum of 60 years. The manufacturers, SAS Europe have been audited on design, quality control, assembly, transportation and on-site construction, giving confidence and trust in this rainscreen system.
Product approval from the LABC assures that the ProWall system has been rigorously checked by Local Authority Building Control surveyors and complies with the LABC Warranty technical standards, demonstrates compliance with UK Building Regulations, product testing and third party accreditation to fulfil the requirements of the Construction Products Regulations of July 2013.
