Grass Concrete Hits the Roof

Forty years of grass reinforcement products tells a tale of proven technology, sustainable design and a company well placed to meet requirements of both SUDS and greener construction.
Plastic alternatives in the form of grassroad and grasskerb meet lighter weight traffic solutions required permeable paving without the intrinsic strength of concrete.
Hitting the roof was the obvious next step for this plastic technology and Grass Concrete Ltd has once again reached new heights for environmental building products
Grassroof combines the proven techniques of plastic permeable paving with a drainage layer, with provision for water harvesting and reduced water run- off. Its rugged structure is designed to suit a variety of rainfall conditions including heavy duty rainfall common in equatorial regions to moderate UK rainfall levels.

Grassroof is available in two modular systems GRF1 and GRF2 GRF1 Standard provides a filtered waterway system. The leg supports are simply bonded to the roof to create a gap to the underside of the GRF1. It is then simply in-filled with a lightweight aggregate to retain water and drain excess.
GRF2 Geotextile provides an open waterway type where a geo-bonded textile to the underside provides a micro-porous barrier to hold the soil in place but allows water to percolate into the voided drainage waterway below. Rainwater can be drained or collected as part of a rainwater harvesting process
Both systems are designed for easy installation onto existing flat roof surfaces ready for grass or with sedum to extensive roofs or grass to intensive layers with deeper soil covering. It modular system is suited to all sizes of rooftops big or small promoting green space awareness for the DIYer, house builder or large commercial building.
The greener environmental benefits are obvious from CO2 absorption of ground level traffic, to added thermal insulation along with significant noise reduction.
