EUROCELL HOSTS INAUGURAL GGF EVENT TO DRIVE INDUSTRY COLLABORATION
Eurocell hosted its first Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) event at its Derbyshire-based Head Office in February, marking a significant milestone in fostering collaboration within the industry.
With upcoming regulatory changes and evolving market conditions, the event provided a crucial platform for stakeholders to come together, share insights, and drive meaningful progress.
The day was structured into two key sessions, each focused on addressing critical industry challenges and opportunities.
The first half of the day was led by Mark Gajda, chair of the Systems House Group. The session brought together key players from across the sector to discuss issues such as Part L 2025, the Home Energy Model, and U-value calculations. It also explored innovative solutions to product challenges and aimed to strengthen industry relationships. By engaging directly with experts and decision-makers, attendees gained valuable perspectives on current trends and future developments.
The afternoon session was led by Kevin Jones, Senior Technical Officer at the GGF and focused on the formation of a New Build Technical Group, a vital initiative aimed at giving the industry a stronger voice in regulatory discussions with bodies such as NHBC and the Government. The session saw high levels of engagement, with 32 attendees and another 17 participants joining remotely, underscoring the industry's commitment to tackling new-build challenges and the need for such a group within the GGF.
Representing Eurocell in this session were Martin Benn, Head of New Build, and Martin Ford, New Build Technical Manager. The proposed group is set to play a pivotal role in addressing technical challenges, advocating for industry interests, publishing industry guidance and best practices, and ensuring that evolving regulations are both practical and beneficial for businesses across the sector.
Martin Benn highlighted the significance of industry collaboration, stating:
"Participating in these events allows us to break down barriers and work collectively to navigate the complex regulatory landscape. The formation of a New Build Technical Group is a step forward in ensuring that our industry's voice is heard at the highest levels."
Kevin Jones, Senior Technical Officer at the GGF, also emphasised the importance of such initiatives:
"With so many adjustments happening across the industry, creating a space for open dialogue is crucial. These sessions provide a foundation for constructive discussions and practical solutions that benefit the entire sector."
The event underscored the power of collaboration in overcoming industry challenges. The strong turnout and active participation demonstrated the industry's commitment to shaping future regulations and standards. By bringing together key stakeholders, Eurocell and the GGF have taken an important step toward strengthening the glazing and new-build sectors.
