Fusion Facades is thrilled to announce a significant achievement in its work on the prestigious Nine Elms development, specifically Block G. Over the course of the last twelve months, our team has been instrumental in the design, engineering, and supply of 132 bespoke balconies. These balconies feature our LandMark I hook-on rainscreen cladding system, which incorporates secret fix soffits to deliver a sleek and modern appearance. Today, we proudly despatched the final set of materials needed to complete this phase of the project—a monumental milestone for the entire Fusion Facades team.
Innovative Secret Fix Rainscreen Cladding
Central to this achievement is our LandMark I rainscreen cladding system. Fully accredited by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT), LandMark I is designed to accommodate the inherent variations in size and shape that frequently arise during complex construction projects. At Nine Elms, every balcony is slightly different in dimension due to backing structure and concrete tolerances, which would typically necessitate costly bespoke solutions. By choosing LandMark I, the design and construction teams have been able to seamlessly account for these variations without incurring excessive expense or logistical complications. The result is a consistent façade finish that meets both architectural and aesthetic requirements.
Secret Fix Soffits for a Clean Aesthetic
Beyond the rainscreen cladding, each balcony at Block G incorporates 3mm aluminium secret fix soffits. These soffits offer a crisp, contemporary look and, combined with the LandMark I system, create a visually cohesive structure. Tenants and residents can look forward to many years of reliable performance and a streamlined appearance that has already drawn positive feedback from on-site professionals.
Unprecedented Scale: Over 30,000 Parts
Each balcony contains more than 200 individual parts, ranging from cladding panels and helping hand brackets to cavity trays, soffit panels, and closure angles. When multiplied across all 132 balconies, the total exceeds 30,000 components for Block G alone. Handling such a large volume of materials requires a carefully orchestrated process, spanning design consultations, thorough fabrication, quality checks, and timely deliveries. This level of detail management exemplifies Fusion Facades’ commitment to upholding excellence in project planning and execution.
Continuing Ambitions and Future Work
Although the balcony package at Block G has reached its delivery milestone, Fusion Facades’ work on the Nine Elms development is far from complete. Our team is currently engaged with the final phases of Block G, where we are crafting a bespoke feature nose fabrication for the penthouse. This distinctive element is set to be a centrepiece of the building, showcasing our dedication to precision and artistic flair in metal fabrication.
Meanwhile, manufacturing is also well underway for Block F, where Fusion Facades will provide a unique entrance clad with architectural fins and another secret fix soffit solution. This striking entrance aims to make a memorable impression on residents and visitors alike, reflecting the overall design ethos and high-quality standards that define the Nine Elms development.
A Testament to Innovation and Collaboration
Reaching this important milestone at Nine Elms underscores Fusion Facades’ ability to tackle large-scale projects with multifaceted technical demands. The success of our LandMark I rainscreen cladding system, combined with expert engineering, design acumen, and precision fabrication, highlights the close collaboration among project architects, structural engineers, and our in-house teams.
Fusion Facades is proud of what has been accomplished so far and looks forward to unveiling the finished results in the coming months. Our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative façade solutions means that Nine Elms residents will enjoy both visually stunning and structurally sound balconies for many years to come.
