German Design Award 2024: HEWI magnetic shower holder honoured
The German Design Award has set itself the task of promoting the social tasks of our time through design across all sectors. In doing so, the German Design Award brings visibility to unique design trends – a competition that drives the design-orientated economy forward. Only those product solutions that provide answers to the challenges of our time and think ahead in terms of design are honoured with this award.
In the "Excellent Product Design - Bath and Wellness" category, the innovative magnetic shower holder won over the high-calibre international jury. The product solution was honoured with the "Winner" award for outstanding design quality.
A new feeling of comfort
The new, patented magnetic shower holder from HEWI is much easier to use and, in the spirit of universal design, is an optimal product for all people and especially for differently-abled users. Characteristic features are easy, magnet-based height adjustment by sliding the shower head, intuitive one-handed operation, a fully rotatable cone bracket, and the conscious lack of the buttons and knobs usually found on such products. Thus, the shower holder can be used without strain and even by those with motor limitations. Wet hands no longer matter, as the traditional clamping mechanism has been replaced by the novel magnetic principle, thus eliminating the need to exert pressure when adjusting the shower holder.
German Design Award: The jury's opinion
The German Design Award is presented by the German Design Council. This is one of the leading international competence centres for design. Initiated by the German Bundesrat, it has been supporting companies in their brand and design development for almost 70 years and strengthens German design as an economic factor.
