Fernco Penstocks used in reticulated water lake system project
Objective:
Provide a solution that would control the flow of water entering a chamber/well to be stored.
Solution:
A Fernco Penstock was the chosen solution due to it’s low maintenance design and quick availability.
Part of this new development design was a reticulated water lake system. In order to keep a healthy lake system the water needs to be transferred and kept moving. This was made possible with a “Lake Reticulation Pump System” which was designed by the Design Engineers from Carndo.
Hall Contracting installed a 1500mm diameter wet well which had a depth of 4.760m, the Penstock was specified to allow water into the wet well at a controlled flow and then be pumped to another lake within the resort lake system. An extension spindle was also installed so the penstock could be operated from the access hatch at the top of the wet well.
The Fernco Penstock was approved for this project as it is corrosion resistant being made from HDPE and 316 stainless steel (SS). The added value for the Fernco Penstock was not only was it in stock and available to install immediately but so was all the installation accessories like the telescopic SS extension spindle, the guide brackets to support the spindle and a variety of operating mechanisms.
Hall Contracting were happy to confirm that the installation of the Penstock was done with ease and were happy with the overall performance.
