WELSH SLATE SHORTLISTED FOR CAREERS WALES AWARD

January 2024

Welsh Slate has been shortlisted for a Careers Wales Valued Partner Awards 2023 in the Best Ongoing Relationship with a School category.

Welsh Slate has been shortlisted due to its work providing careers support to pupils in local schools.

These highly anticipated awards are a chance for Careers Wales to recognise employers who have worked with them to deliver impactful and engaging careers experiences to pupils in Wales over the last 12 months.

Through working closely with schools, these organisations support young people to make links between what they learn in school and the world of work and understand the opportunities open to them.

The event this year coincides with Careers Wales’ 10-year anniversary as an all-Wales company. The awards are being sponsored by Minister for the Economy, Vaughan Gething, and will take place on 22 November at the Pierhead building on the Senedd estate in Cardiff.

The eight categories for the awards are:

Most Supportive Work Experience Employer

Most Innovative Support for Schools

Most Supportive Small Business

Outstanding Personal Contribution

Best Ongoing Relationship with a School

Best Newcomer

Best Promoter of Welsh within the Workplace

Outstanding Achievement – 10 year award

Nikki Lawrence, chief executive at Careers Wales, said: “Congratulations to Welsh Slate for being shortlisted for a Valued Partner Award 2023.

“This event allows us to thank businesses for providing local pupils with meaningful experiences and empowering them with work-related knowledge that will help them shape their futures.

“Working with schools to provide valuable careers support helps inspire and motivate the younger generation and future workforce of Wales.

“We look forward to welcoming Welsh Slate to the special awards ceremony at the Pierhead building this year and wish everyone the best of luck.”
