How Lindab residential ventilation systems contribute to the UN sustainable

December 2023

Lindab have made no secret of our commitment to sustainability with the mission statement, “For a better climate” setting the standard for the approach that is expected in every aspect of the organisation. This means that Lindab have examined every way that we work; ensuring our sourcing practices are ethical; making systematic changes to improve our workplace; investing in reducing energy consumption for operations; and a wide range of other activities for sustainability.

Most importantly, we recognise that the products we make go on to be in buildings which will exist within the world for a long time. Lindab provide environmental and quality certifications and Environmental Product Declarationsfor many of our products and systems for building owners and those involved in construction, to enable you to make more informed decisions about sustainable solutions.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by the United Nations provides 17 Sustainable Development Goals which represent areas for action. We can demonstrate how Lindab residential ventilation systems, contribute to a number of the UN SDGs.

Goal 1: No Poverty

Lindab focus on energy efficiency and affordable systems contributes to reducing energy costs, which can alleviate poverty for households and communities. By offering good, affordable, and energy-efficient systems, Lindab provides opportunities for cost savings, thus helping to combat poverty.

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being

Lindab high-efficiency ventilation units, such as the RHR-CF, ensure clean and healthy indoor air while minimising energy consumption. By recovering heat from extracted air and pre-heating incoming air, Lindab systems optimise energy use, leading to improved indoor air quality and well-being.

Goal 4: Quality Education

Lindab adoption of the radial ducting philosophy, as seen in the Lindab InDomo system, simplifies installation for mechanical extract ventilation (MEV) and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR). This streamlined approach reduces power loss, pressure drops, cross-contamination, and noise transfer, ensuring a conducive learning environment in educational institutions.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Lindab energy-efficient systems, such as the RHR-CF, are designed for passive houses or low-energy homes. These class A+ ventilation units with heat recovery significantly reduce energy consumption while providing efficient and clean airflow. By promoting affordable and clean energy solutions, Lindab contributes to Goal 7 and helps create a sustainable future.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

The demand for energy reduction creates opportunities for increased production and job creation. Lindab commitment to designing cost-effective and energy-efficient systems promotes economic growth and supports the development of a skilled workforce in the sustainable energy sector.

Goal 13: Climate Action

Lindab emphasis on reducing energy consumption aligns with global climate action efforts. By maximising heat recovery and minimising energy demand, Lindab actively contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.

Goal 15: Life on Land

Lindab use of long-life materials and recyclable steel minimises waste and potential contaminants. By prioritising sustainable materials and responsible land use, Lindab supports the preservation of natural resources and ecosystems.

Lindab's commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable practises demonstrates its alignment with several UN sustainability goals. By providing energy-efficient ventilation systems, Lindab contributes to poverty reduction, improved health and well-being, quality education, affordable and clean energy access, economic growth, climate action, and responsible land use. Through innovative solutions, Lindab paves the way for a more sustainable and inclusive future, where energy consumption is reduced, poverty is alleviated, and the well-being of individuals and the environment is prioritised.
