Built in 1889 the Lancashire Watch Factory in Prescot was at the heart of England’s watchmaking trade, up until the 20th century when the facility unfortunately closed – unable to compete with its American rivals in 1910.
Fast forward a century and in 2018, the Prescot watch factory received a complete face lift and was transformed into housing, incorporating 56 apartments and 16 bungalows.
We were delighted to be part of the redevelopment and are pleased to have brought new-life to Prescot’s former factory, by supplying and installing approx. 280 square metres of our sustainable Jakob Webnet Green Wall system to the building’s south and east facing façades.

Webnet Green Wall with Plants by Jakob
When fully covered, the climbing plants will complement the neighbouring brick building. However, the stainless-steel Green Wall was not just installed for aesthetic purposes, but also to help protect the building façades from UV light and heavy rain as well as improve air quality in the local community.
During the plants’ growth, the Webnet façade cover looks like a discrete reminder of the industrial heritage of the former factory. However, since its installation two years ago, the plants have grown considerably, and we are pleased to see the aesthetic benefit that the Green Wall has made to the façade of the building!
