Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire
Over the past year we have undertaken an extensive programme of fire testing of our systems to obtain Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire ratings, which have replaced the previous fire ratings. Euro Classifications are now industry standard and by providing this additional data we hope to assist our clients in making informed choices on the suitability of our products for different applications.
P-Clad is an external brick or stone slip wall cladding system designed by Eurobrick for use as a rainscreen system for structures requiring a cavity behind the cladding. The Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire for P-Clad is EN 13501-1: 2018; Class B- s1, d0.
I-Clad is an internal brick or stone slip wall system developed specifically for interior applications, for fixing to battens or timber/light gauge steel stud walling systems. The Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire for I-Clad is EN 13501-1: 2018; Class B- s1, d0.
X-Clad is an external brick or stone slip wall insulation (EWI) system suitable for modular, new build and retrofit projects. It is available in different thicknesses, therefore it was important to test a range of thicknesses to provide our clients with accurate information:
17mm thick X-Clad Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire is EN 13501-1: 2018; Class B- s1, d0.
50mm thick X-Clad Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire is EN 13501-1: 2018; Class C- s1, d0.
100mm thick X-Clad Euro Classification of Reaction to Fire is EN 13501-1: 2018; Class E- s1, d0.
The Classification of Reaction to Fire covers three aspects:
The first letter gives a classification based on the combustibility and contribution to fire: A1 and A2 is non-combustible, B till D go from very limited to medium contribution to fire and E and F go to high contribution to easily flammable.
The ‘s’ part relates to the total smoke propagation/ emission level produced within the first 10 minutes of exposure. The values range from 1 (absent/weak) to 3 (high):
s1 = a little or no smoke
s2 = average amount of smoke
s3 = substantial smoke
The ‘d’ part indicates the ‘flaming droplets and particles’ during the first 10 minutes of exposure. The index is:
d0 = none
d1 = slow dripping
d2 = high dripping
