Kawneer : Empowering Employee Well-Being: Zurich Insurance
VISION
Unity Place was designed as the anchor project in the Swindon Kimmerfields development. Aiming to achieve a rating of BREEAM “Excellent”, minimise waste during construction, and run efficiently throughout its lifespan, the building is a sustainable commitment to Swindon that provided the 950 staff of Zurich Insurance with 100,000ft² of office space.
In addition, the six floors and roof terrace has a room to hold functions and was designed to enhance employee well-being.
In the words of John Keppel, Zurich UK Chief Operating Officer, “Swindon has been home to Zurich for over 30 years, and we’re pleased to be playing our part in the regeneration of the town centre. The positive impact that our buildings have on the environment and health and wellbeing of employees are a vital part of our sustainability agenda and sit at the heart of our new office design.”
Kawneer provided its market-leading aluminium façade solutions to the eco-friendly project, installed by our authorised specialist subcontractor APiC UK Ltd for main contractor Skanska.
TRANSFORMATION
Kawneer’s AA®190 TB Severe Duty Entrance Doors were selected for use on the ground floor to meet the needs of the heavy footfall of Unity Place – the solution is an all-purpose door for use in high-traffic areas and automatic entrances.
Kawneer’s AA®110 Curtain Wall System on the façade, was chosen for its high thermal and weather performance, perfect for a project that required efficiency and sustainability at every phase.
REALISATION
Kawneer’s solutions contributed to a development that achieved a BREEAM “Excellent” rating at the project design stage with a final assessment eagerly awaited on BREEAM status.
