Springing into Action for Lucky Hedgehog Rescue
Spring has arrived and most of us are looking forward to the lighter nights and milder weather, but for hedgehog charities it can be an extremely busy period with a rise in admissions and callouts.
To help hedgehog charities continue their essential work for the species, Timloc Building Products, part of the Alumasc Group plc, pledge to make a donation from every sale of the Hedgehog Highway by Timloc to these organisations.
Lucky Hedgehog Rescue, based in Grimston, work extremely hard to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick or injured hedgehogs in their local area. They have been selected as the latest charity to receive a £100 donation from Timloc.
Lucy Felgate-Baumberg, founder of Lucky Hedgehog Rescue comments: “The rescue solely relies on public donation and volunteers. Without the generosity of the public and businesses, we wouldn’t be able to carry on the much needed hands-on support hedgehogs require.
“The donation from Timloc has come at a great time because the rescue is currently holding over 50 hedgehogs that we have looked after over winter and now spring is here, we expect more admissions.”
When the temperature turns milder hedgehogs will leave their nests after winter hibernation and be on the search for food and water.
Lucy continues: “A lot of the cases we receive at this time are malnourished and extremely dehydrated and this could be because of loss of their habitat and the search for food and water is extremely difficult.
“I try to encourage home owners with gardens to leave out food and water and to give hedgehogs access to their gardens.”
