Eurobrick 2022: Looking back and looking forward
Well, it wasn’t dull! Like many businesses in post pandemic UK, we found 2022 had its challenges. We were affected by continuing energy driven price inflation and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The domestic political upheaval and threat of recession created instability and unpredictability generally and unfortunately this was widely felt by many businesses across the nation. And trading conditions only got harder as the year went on and the country headed towards recession.
However, this is not the first recession we have faced. Despite these numerous challenges, we found business was steady throughout 2022. Commercial interiors such as the Marks and Spencer’s Food Halls and McDonald’s Restaurants’ ongoing expansion remained robust, while modular and off-site fabrication projects continued to gather momentum. We found there were fewer larger developments, but small and medium sized projects continued throughout the year. As a well established, trusted brand with over 30 years’ behind us, we were fortunate to see good levels of repeat business and new enquiries. Overall, it was a good year in the circumstances, and we are thankful for that.
As we head into 2023, we remain hopeful. Hopeful that the political uncertainty of last year is behind us and that, as some form of stability returns, inflationary pressures start to ease. From what we have seen, political and economic commentators in the press suggest this may be the case.
We are also optimistic as a business, with some exciting developments on the horizon. We have been working very hard on developing a new system which has almost completed the formal testing phase, so all being well we hope to be ready to market this in the Spring. We have also been working very hard on a new website which includes online sales of our brick slips, pointing mortars and accessories. We are hoping this will go live soon, so watch this space for our fresh new look .
