Lignacite relishes involvement in Carrow Quarter development

May 2022

Lignacite is delighted to be supplying blocks for phase four of the Carrow Quarter development in Norwich in collaboration with the principal contractor, R G Carter Construction Ltd, and builders’ merchant, J. Medler Ltd.

Located in the heart of the city adjacent to Carrow Road Football Stadium and overlooking the River Yare, the scheme was designed by Hudson Architects for Broadland Housing Association.

In this fourth and final phase, 101 flats are being built, including a mix of affordable rent, open market and discounted market sale.

Due for completion in 2023, this ambitious city-centre scheme, which first entered construction in 2018, will provide a total of 323 new homes.

Designed in a contemporary manner around the principles of Passivhaus, the buildings within this high-density, urban development range between five and 10 storeys in height, reflecting the regeneration of the wider area. The density and scale of the development allow for essential housing in the city, including affordable homes for the local community.

Occupying a very sustainable location – half a mile from Norwich train station and near local facilities including a leisure complex – the scheme includes car parking spaces, cycle storage and other facilities for the community to utilise, as well as landscaping and a riverside walk.

Nick Franks, COO for Lignacite, commented: “We’re proud that all four phases of this magnificent and much-needed development have been constructed using Lignacite blocks, and we’re excited to see the full scheme come to fruition as the finish line approaches. We’d like to thank Hudson Architects, R G Carter and J. Medler for involving us in this superb scheme, which will no doubt benefit the residents of Norwich.”
