Each successive edition of the IET wiring regulations brings about higher levels of safety in our homes and our workplaces and the next step in the evolution of BS7671, 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, is here with the draft for public comment document for its second amendment.

The amendment process includes publication of a draft for public comment which allow everyone in the industry, from manufacturers to contractors, the opportunity to comment on the proposed changes & safety improvements.

This consultation period is now open and you can join the discussion and make your comments on the latest electrical safety standards.

The draft for public comment will allow you to comment on suggested improvements such as:

New cut-off date for installations to comply with Amendment 2
New guidance on use of Type AC RCDs
Greater emphasis on prevention of electrical fires (AFDDs)
Simplified requirements on selection of Overvoltage protection (SPDs)
The draft for public comment will be open until 11th December 2020.
