REHAU shortlisted for two categories at the prestigious G18 Awards
There have been three cheers at REHAU as the brand was named as a finalist for two competitive categories in this year’s G-Awards.
The 2018 G-Awards is one of the most sort after awards within the glass and glazing industry. It brings together manufacturers, fabricators and installers from across the country to celebrate the brightest stars and a year of achievements.
This year, REHAU entered its popular TOTAL70 co-extruded profile into the New Product of the Year category, and its fenestration solution designed for Coventry University’s Cycle Works student accommodation block was entered into the Commercial Project of the Year category.
The New Product of the Year seeks to identify a new and innovative product that will make major inroads into improving overall building performance. Key factors taken into consideration during panel deliberation was the research and testing that went into the development of the product, its innovative design and use of recycled materials and recyclability of the product, amongst others.
REHAU’s TOTAL70 co-extruded profile uses recycled material from first generation PVC windows to create brand new high-quality, energy efficient window frames. The core of the TOTAL70 co-extruded window profile is made up entirely of post-consumer waste, with only the outer skin made of new polymer. It is a unique product and is believed to be the only profile in the market to use up to 100% post-consumer waste within its core.
As the demands now imposed on glass, glazing and hardware companies in the commercial sector continue to rise, architects and construction companies across the country are seeking out innovative thinking and are continually testing the standards of design, comfort and security. The Commercial Project of the Year category seeks to identify those projects that have gone above and beyond in achieving just this.
REHAU’s recent solution used for the Coventry University student accommodation is a perfect example of meeting the developers brief with an open mind, in-depth knowledge of window and curtain walling products and a sensitivity to the architect’s vision.
REHAU and installation company Campbell Mason worked together on an innovative alternative to alumiunium using PVCu profiles with a fiberglass centre and aluminium casings, thereby improving thermal performance, delivering additional strength in each window profile and offering sound reduction without compromising the aesthetics of the building.
Stephen Beresford, Head of Marketing and Communications at REHAU, said: “We’re of course delighted to be shortlisted in both categories in this year’s G Awards. It’s certainly a competitive field for both categories so we are very pleased the judging panel recognised the innovative approach taken by REHAU both when it comes to providing solutions for projects and in our new product development.”
An independent panel of judges will now review 54 finalists who will compete for the 12 coveted trophies in the G18 Awards, set to take place on November 30th at the London Hilton on Park lane.
