GEZE also supply ranges of sliding door gear which can be ceiling, wall or floor mounted for both frameless glass doors and timber doors.

With building regulations and fire prevention legislation becoming even more stringent, the needs are greater to get smoke out of protected escape routes as quickly as possible. GEZE electric window openers can be used for casement windows, roof windows and fanlights and can be automated centrally for emergency smoke ventilation.

Frameless Glass Doors & Glass Systems

GEZE are leaders in the design of frameless glass door patch fittings. The SGG range includes hinges, locks, door closers. The SGG range is available for 8mm, 10mm and 12mm as standard and 15mm and 19mm glass fittings are available upon request.

Our IGG range is an integrated complete glass system. By integrating both frame and fitting systems between the two panes of glass, architects are given freedom to create glass structures without visible mechanical intrusions.

35 years and counting

2023 sees GEZE UK celebrate another milestone in the company’s history – 35 years in business, and in that time the company has grown and developed hugely. Formed in 1988, GEZE UK was the second subsidiary to be established by German parent company, GEZE GmbH, following GEZE France. Based in Chelmsford, Essex, the company started trading mainly in the distribution of door closer products.

Introducing automatic door solutions

Recognising a gap in the UK market, a new division was set up in 1997, in Tamworth, Staffordshire to concentrate on the provision of complete automatic door solutions from design to installation and including technical advice and guidance on building regulations.

By 2003, GEZE UK had outgrown the Chelmsford office and the decision was taken to merge it and the Tamworth operation into new purpose-built premises at Fradley Park in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
Expansion

In 2008 the first service office was set up followed by a further 6 offices throughout the UK. The Scottish office, near Glasgow, is a full service provider for the Scottish market, dedicated to the specification, installation and service of automatic doors.

During my 10 years at GEZE UK I have seen many changes and challenges including Brexit, the Covid pandemic and a recent cyber-attack.

As a company we have shown fantastic resilience and the ability to all pull together in difficult circumstances. From a handful of staff in the early days to over 250 today, the company would not have developed as it has without their expertise, determination and dedication.

As we look to the future we continue to focus on offering the very best customer service, as well as managing issues such as product certification, sustainability and fire safety. We also look to ‘give back’ through our corporate social responsibility programme.

Health and beauty retailer Boots UK is well known for offering beauty products to enhance the stylish good looks of its customers, so the entrance to their brand new store in Kensington High Street in London, just had to step up to the mark.
Perfect design solution

The busy store needed an entrance to complement its glass and bronze-anodised façade and GEZE UK had just the answer – the UFO NT. The UFO NT is an underfloor operator that is completely hidden from view, so perfect when installed with glass doors. Extremely quiet in operation and complying with the demands of the Equality Act and BS EN 8300 ensuring access for all the UFO NT can be used on any type of doors – glass, metal or wood, and can operate doors with leaf widths up to 1250mm on external doors and 1600mm on internal doors and up to 125kg in weight. GEZE UK worked with façade solutions specialists Colorminium to design and install double doors with two UFO NT automatic operators to the store entrance.

The Boots store is part of a mixed use building on the corner of High Street and Wrights Lane, the 1970’s building was remodelled and extended, to completely transform it and includes office space, a new retail arcade and connection to the London Underground.
