CD Stainless Steel Drainage Channels & Trench Drains
CD offers a comprehensive range of stainless steel drainage channels to suit any application and floor finish, combined with the ability to produce bespoke systems. Including:
- Standard Drainage Channel (3000 Series) - With a minimum channel depth of 50mm, these are ideal for use where a high volume of direct discharge waste from process equipment into the floor is required.
- Super Compact Channel (3600 Series) - Conical shaped with no gratings, this drain is easy to maintain. This economical drainage channel fits flush to the floor and requires a 50mm depth.
- Modular Drainage Channel (6000 Series) - Has a shallow channel depth of 40mm and is strictly restricted to 155mm overall width. The 6000 Series is suitable only for tiled, concrete or resin floors.
CD Stainless Steel Gullies & Floor Drains
Our range of floor gullies includes trapped outlet gullies with a range of gratings. Ideally for use in many wash down applications including catering kitchens, abattoirs, dairies and food processing plants.
CD Stainless Steel Gratings & Grids
We supply both mesh and perforated floor gratings for use with our channel drainage systems. Anti-slip, smooth and heel safe options are available.
CD Stainless Steel Wall Guards & Wall Protection
For the protection of walls, we manufacture a range of buffer rails and corner guards and skirtings in austenitic stainless steel to suit a wide range of wall finishes including tiles, fair-face block work and p.v.c sheeting.
CD Kerbs
Further to our surface protection range we supply stainless steel kerbs, which are ideal for use in Food processing factories with resin flooring. We offer three types:
- Single Sided Kerbs (8100 series) - These are mainly used around the perimeter area to sit alongside the exterior wall and are then infilled with C30 concrete (or similar) making them very strong and impact resistant. Walling is then built on top.
- Double Sided Kerbs (8200 series) - For sectioning an area into different rooms, the double sided kerbs are ideal. These can cross path using internal and external corner pieces and stop ends.
- Retro Fit Kerbs (8300 series) - For pre-existing walls in refurb situations, retro fit kerbs offer the solution. Also ideal for use in conjunction with the single and double kerbs as a continuation of the protection in cold areas and against block walls.
Barrier rails / Bollards / Crash Protection
All bollards and barriers can be either surface mounted or core drilled. All offering Ideal protection from forklift trucks, pallet trucks and passing trolleys.
CD Stainless Steel Recessed Manhole Covers
The covers allow easy access below floor level and are designed with a recessed top to sit resin, tiles or screed flush with the floor. Standard sizes available ex-stock. Heavy duty range also available for trafficked areas to support forklift and pallet trucks.

The team at Component Developments are celebrating 40 years the providing stainless steel drainage channel solutions, gratings, slot drains, trapped gullies, manhole covers, kerbs, corner guards and surface protection to the building industry. Established in 1984 the company was the first to market in the UK providing stainless steel drainage systems, replacing the longstanding cast iron or tiled solutions. During this time they have developed trusted and proven product solutions working with architects, public health consultants, contractors, designers and in-house food manufacturing engineers in a collaborative approach to provide floor drainage solutions in a variety of locations.
The range of systems have been developed for use in kitchens, leisure centres, food production, breweries and wineries, anywhere where surface drainage is required, hygiene is an issue or the aesthetic benefits are desired, stainless steel drainage systems provide the most durable, applicable and environmentally friendly solution.
Manufacturing in Telford for the entirety of its 40 year history, this central location provides a UK based, locally sourced product, reducing the environmental impact and helping design teams with the move towards carbon neutral. The central location and in-house manufacturing also provides the team the ability to respond quickly to site and programme requirements.
The team provide responsive, personal, customer focus support from initial design concept through to final delivery. Often working from hand sketches, developing the design to a workable specification, then utilising the latest solid modelling software to provide rendered concept details aiding visualisation of the final design and also combining with the latest CAD CAM technology to support efficient manufacturing methods.
These abilities were essential in providing an external façade drainage solution for 100 Liverpool Street, London. British Land’s first net zero carbon development and a BREEAM outstanding building. Working with the design team and installers, a bespoke slot drain system was engineered, designed and manufactured to follow the
contours of this curvaceous building located discreetly where the windows meet the paving.

Component Developments Interior Drainage supplied to P.D. Hook (Hatcheries) Ltd
P.D. Hook (Hatcheries) Ltd is a family-owned business, founded in the 1950s and has grown to become the largest independent hatchery company in the UK and a major player in the UK poultry market. Due to them being extremely busy environment, with the capacity to hatch over 10,000,000 chicks per week, we had to be as hygienic and swift as possible when measuring and installing the custom gratings. Component Developments were approached with this challenge due to us being known for both expertise and hygiene.
We were enquired about designing and manufacturing new stainless steel drainage channels in order to both accept trolly loadings smoothly over the top of them and be as hygienic as possible. Previously their in-situ gratings were made using GRP with large drainage apertures which allowed excellent drainage but gave an uneven surface which could possibly damage the un-hatched eggs. Therefore, the trade-off was 4mm thick perforated grating that gave the smooth finish required along with easier maintenance and reaching the drainage required to ensure fluids went to drain.
While the customer wanted new gratings, they wished to minimise disruption, so we decided to utilise the existing resin-based channel systems, each being measured individually to ensure the width and depth was correct as we discovered multiple differences.
Since supplying these gratings, we have been invited back to site to measure phase two which has now been completed.
