ION Glass - Looking for straight answers?
June 2020

The iconic Rotunda Staircase at the Tate Britain remains one of the most satisfying projects Ion has undertaken, not least because of its high profile location. Each curved panel consists of an inner and outer skin of opaque glass precisely measured and manufactured to fit perfectly around the spiral and each individual step.

A mezzanine floor in this Martello Tower is enclosed by a continuous span of frameless glass balustrade that flows seamlessly around the tight curve around the top of the spiral staircase and across the span of the floor, stylishly combining both channel set and bolt fixed glass.

An external curved glass balustrade was installed by Ion Glass at Cranleigh School to surround the war memorial created by Nicholas Dimbleby. The frameless glass panels feature the names of pupils who have fallen in battle during the history of the school.

The frameless curved glass balustrade installed in this luxury barn conversion fits perfectly around the cast concrete spiral staircase. Each glass panel is individually cut to follow the steps and stands off from the concrete using stainless steel spacers.

We hope to be fully operational in the very near future and are looking forward to mobilising our teams to be back on site fitting both curved and straight structural glass. In the meantime we are continuing to talk, plan, design and prepare to ensure your projects in commercial, residential, church or heritage environments are ready to press 'go' as soon as possible.
