Pediluxe Entrance Matting -Met Office Supercomputer Complex – Exeter, UK
January 2020

The new Met Office complex houses a new, state of the art £97 million supercomputer, along with flexible office space for staff and academics. Located at Exeter Science Park, the complex forms part of the region’s vision of a world-leading centre of predictive environmental science at the Exeter Science Park and will help exploit UK scientific excellence, supporting collaboration and partnerships between science, business and academia.

CS were approached to provide a series of natural ventilation modules throughout the facade of the main building and the IT Building. For the main office building, CS worked closely with the glazing contractor to develop a series of natural ventilation modules that fitted within their glazing framework. CS supplied an RSH5700 Performance Louvre, and an acoustic louvre as part of a complete natural ventilation solution that fitted in with the sloped design of the building’s facade. This complete module provides a glazed-in, natural ventilation system, limiting the need for costly HVAC and air conditioning units within the building. For the IT building, CS supplied A3105 louvre, a continuous blade louvre with hidden mullions offering good airflow performance.

CS also provided Pediluxe Entrance Matting with Castle Grey interior carpet inserts and Tetras clean-off carpet tiles for the main entrance to the office building. CS Pediluxe is a robust, 17mm deep aluminium entrance matting system offering a luxury feel to the entrance. CS Tetras carpet tiles offer high absorption, with a tough bristle to remove any remaining dirt and moisture. The combination of these two CS products ensure reduced cleaning costs throughout the building, and protection for the adjacent floor finishes.
