The Elastaseal Warm Roof System has been used in the refurbishment of the roof of a new Hilton hotel in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. The Hampton by Hilton opens its doors in March 2015 and is opposite Newcastle Central Station and within easy-walking distance of the city’s biggest local attractions.
It is housed in former commercial office space, the flat roofs of which were prone to leaks and not thermally efficient. An effective, long-term roofing solution was needed.
The ElastasealTM Warm Roof System from Tor Coatings was chosen on the basis of practicality, performance and through life cost. It provides a seamless waterproof barrier membrane and maximises the thermal efficiency of the roof. It ensures the roof remains leak free and reduces heating and energy costs.
The system was applied directly over the previous felt roof membrane, which was extremely convenient and avoided the cost of removal.
Once the roof had been prepared, TorthermTM thermal insulation boards were bonded and covered with a self-adhesive carrier membrane onto which the coating system was applied.
The protective ElastasealTM coating incorporated every detail of the roof, taking in every detail, meaning the entire roof area was fully waterproof.
The ElastasealTM system can be specified with an initial life of up to 25 years before first full maintenance. For the Hampton hotel roof, a BBA Certified 25-year system was chosen.
