A modern, high-end apartment building in Newcastle, the Forge combines apartment living with vibrant communal areas for the like-minded residents to enjoy. Style was contracted to create a flexible meeting area in the spacious club lounge, where tenants can gather to socialise or for work.
The DORMA Varitrans Straightline glass-partitioning wall offered the perfect solution, allowing a meeting room to be formed with ease, whilst retaining the open-plan feel of the room. Creating a stunning feature wall, Style sourced and manufactured a bespoke metal frame that was bolted onto the glass panels, creating a uniquely original crittall-effect.
The Forge is a three-stage residential project and the first build-to-rent scheme in Newcastle. Aiming to bring together a strong community, tenants can choose from outstanding 1, 2 or 3-bedroom apartments and enjoy the services of a 24hr concierge service, a gym as well as chic communal areas.
Working with main contractor Marcus Worthington and Co, and Architects Koncept Interiors, Style was asked to create an eye-catching, manual moveable wall system that would allow the plush open-plan lounge area to be divided into two separate spaces
The glass structure, off-set against a striking aluminium frame, is a stunning addition to the club’s contemporary interior design, creating a welcoming and bright atmosphere for tenants and their visitors.
“This is a great example of how we can design and manufacture a truly one-off moveable wall system that enhances the overall scheme of a beautiful and cleverly designed room,” said Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the North.

Style is the exclusive UK partner to DORMA, and its popular Varitrans moveable wall is ideal for shop fronts, restaurants, church halls, airports, showrooms, offices, and any area where space division is required without the need for acoustic privacy.
It can be installed either as a manual system or with fully automatic operation, with the panels moving into place at the touch of a button thanks to DORMA’s ingenious ComfortDrive system.
