Fire Shutters – Fireroll range
- Fire Shutter - Fireroll E30 Roller Shutters – Designed for smaller openings of up to 4m wide by 2.5m high this attractive and sleek Roller Shutter is electrically operated and extensively tested to EN:1634-1 for fire resistance. Available in a range of RAL colours.
- Fire Shutter - Fireroll E60 Roller Shutters – Particularly suited to servery type openings this attractive, close fitting shutter has a curtain that has been fire tested to EN:1634 – 1 and it’s electrically operated mechanisms offer peace of mind from any health and safety risks.
- Fire Shutter - Fireroll E120 Roller Shutters - Suitable for various installations including department stores, shopping centres, warehouses, factories and car parks. The shutter has been tested to EN 1634-1 for fire resistance and is rated E120 in accordance with EN13501-2 and EN 16034.
- Fire Shutter - Fireroll Acoustic E120 Roller Shutters - with a sound reduction of 25dB Rw and having been fire-tested to EN 1634-1, is rated E120 in accordance with EN 13501-2, EN 15269-10 & EN 16034. A special double curtain arrangement is also available which reduces sound transmission further to 32dB
- Fire Shutter - Fireroll EW Roller Shutters - The product can be utilized in any application where fire compartmentation is required but is ideally suited to applications where radiated heat is considered an issue. When tested, the radiation transfer remained below the pass /fail criterion of 15 kW/m² thus protecting people in the vicinity.
- Fire Shutter - Fireroll VR60 Roller Shutters - A revolutionary product designed to provide 60/60 minutes fire protection between individual compartments. The door has been successfully tested to EN 1634-1 for one hour integrity and insulation.
Fire Curtains – Fibreroll range
- Fire Curtain - Fibreroll S – The Fibreroll S Rolling Fire Curtain which has been successfully fire tested to EN 1634-1, offers major advantages over other types of fire curtain since it incorporates reduced radiation in addition to keeping fire and smoke at bay.
Security Shutters
- Bi-Fold Gates – These are the perfect solution to securing car park entrances whilst allowing the maximum ventilation necessary to allow exhaust fumes to escape.
- Multifold Folding Gates -Allow for larger entrances such as large carpark entrances to be protected whilst still allowing maximum ventilation.
- Collapsible Gates- Bolton Gate Company’s Collapsible Gates provide high security against vandals, burglars and other intruders. Collapsible Gates are specified for use in underground stations, car parks and in a wide range of commercial situations where the ability to see through the gate not only deters criminals, but also provides optimum ventilation and vision.
- Bolton Superior Folding Shutters- Superior sliding folding shutter door is appropriately named, being internationally accepted as the most robust shutter available. The Superior is particularly suitable for both heavily used and very large doorways on applications ranging from rapid acting fire and ambulance station doors to shipyards and aircraft hangars. Superior Doors have been tested for wind resistance and can be designed to meet onerous wind load conditions.
- Eurofold Folding Shutters- The Eurofold horizontal sliding folding shutter has outstanding strength and versatility which, combined with bespoke sizing, render it suitable for the most diverse range of both external and internal applications
- Roller Shutters– Robust enough for any situation Roller Shutters weatherproof and secure small to large openings in a variety of situations such as loading bays, shop fronts and doorways.
- Security Rolling Grille - Most frequently used on car park or loading bay type applications as the grille provides a secure closure combined with permitting a high volume of air flow. Also used on gas and chemical stores when combined with ATEX controls. The stainless steel version of the security grille is regularly used when the specifier wants to maximise viewing area or create a heightened sense of space on applications such as shop fronts, malls, superstore entrances, corridors and reception areas.

Mid Bar Collapsible Gate- Mid Bar Collapsible Gates are renowned for their strength and reliability,important features when considering the heavy usage the majority of goods lifts are expected to cope with. Their compact bunching action means that they take up little space relative to the size of the entrance and headroom requirements are minimal.

The Site:
Excel London opened in November 2000 and was the integral component of a huge regeneration project in the area of the Royal Victoria Docks next to the River Thames.
The Phase 2 project had the primary objective of increasing the existing flat floor space by 32,500m2 resulting in an incredible one million square feet of flexible floor space. This projected the already highly regarded Excel London into the position of a world class exhibition and conference venue.
Close to the London City Airport and with it's own dedicated station on the Dockland Light Railway, the centre manages to attract millions of visitors per year and is a major employer within the local community.
The Project:
Having worked with Sir Robert McAlpine on numerous projects, Bolton Gate Company were extremely pleased to be chosen again to work alongside this main contractor, particularly on this prestigious project.
The contract initially involved the supply and installation of a range of 30 and 60 minute fire rated shutters to satisfy the requirement for fire compartmentation between different exhibition spaces and to communal walkways throughout the exhibition centre.
As the fire strategy developed it became evident that, for particular areas including some of the largest openings (7m x 10m), the fire shutters were required to provide fire integrity but this also had to be combined with an acoustic rating of up to 17dB RW.
At the time, acoustic rated fire shutters did not exist on the market as a single product solution and consequently it was typical to supply two separate shutters with one to satisfy each requirement but, given space limitations, this was not a viable option.
The Solution:
Drawing upon years of experience, Bolton Gate Company were committed to developing a workable solution in order to fully satisfy the project requirements.
Moving away from the standard 'single skin' type fire rated rolling shutter, efforts were concentrated on manufacturing a new insulated type of shutter that would be capable of providing the acoustic rating.
The new shutter design was subjected to a series of rigorous testing, including both fire and acoustic tests all of which were in keeping with the very latest standards.
The testing proved to be highly successful and we were pleased to complete our contractual obligations using the very first Fireroll Accousting Shutters.
The fire shutter - Fireroll Acoustic provided a compact, hard waring, yet aesthetically pleasing single shutter solution which was entirely suitable for incorporation into such a highly regarded exhibition and conference centre.

The RRS, Sir David Attenborough, has been designed to assist the British Antarctic Survey in undertaking its logistical support work and increasingly vital research within the polar regions.
Funded by the UK Government and costing £200m the Sir David Attenborough is one of the most technologically advanced research vessels in the world.
This highly prestigious project, built in the UK as Hull Number 1390 by Cammell Laird Shipyard has delivered a boat capable of operating in the most extreme of conditions. Technologically advanced, the vessel includes an array of specialist scientific facilities, equipment and laboratories all designed to facilitate its research crew in conducting studies of the ocean, seafloor, ice and atmosphere as well as providing key support to the BAS teams located onshore.
Bolton Gate Company were extremely proud to be associated with such a momentous project and were particularly pleased to receive the order to supply three specialist Marine Rolling Shutters.
These bespoke heavy-duty shutters of varying sizes up to 6m in width and over 8.5m in height have been installed to the mid-ship scientific hangar area of the vessel. The compact yet resilient design of shutter, capable of operating at extreme temperatures, has resulted in closures with a minimal footprint thereby maintaining space which is at a premium on this research craft.
Amongst many other critical elements, the scientific hangar houses the vessel’s moon-pool which permits a safer deployment of the autonomous underwater vehicles one of which, being the Autosub Long Range (ALR) Class submarine, which carries a name synonymous with this project; that of Boaty McBoatface.
