Our comprehensive range includes:
Masonry Support Systems
Masonry cladding on steel or concrete framed structures is normally supported by stainless steel masonry support systems. Frame type, differential movement, type of cladding, masonry load and cavity width all need to be considered when selecting the most appropriate fixing solution.
Windposts & Parapet Posts
Ancon Windposts are designed to span vertically between floors to provide lateral support for panels of brickwork. They are designed to suit specific applications and are supplied complete with end connections and ties.
Ancon AMR is steel reinforcement that locates in a bed joint to strengthen masonry panels. The longitudinal wires are flattened to less than 3mm to ensure good mortar cover is maintained, even when the product is lapped or used in the same joint as a wall tie. AMR improves the structural performance of a wall by providing additional resistance to lateral load.
Stainless Steel Lintels
Ancon Lintels are manufactured from stainless steel and do not require any further corrosion protection. The standard range of Ancon Lintels is designed to suit the majority of loading conditions found in residential and commercial buildings. Special lintels can be manufactured to suit architectural features, heavy duty applications and wall constructions not covered by the standard range.
Stainless Steel Wall Ties & Restraint Fixings
Stainless Steel Wall ties and restraint fixings are an essential element in the stability of masonry panels. Ancon manufactures fixings in a variety of lengths and types for restraining brickwork, blockwork and stonework. The Staifix range of wall ties includes solutions for all types of masonry construction including traditional brick-to-block, thin-joint blockwork and timber frames.
Tie bars are increasingly being used in structures and buildings as an architectural as well as a structural element. Ancon Tension Systems have been designed to meet the demanding aesthetic requirements of today’s applications. A high load tension system is available - the Ancon 500 System.
Ancon Isolan connectors join external concrete balconies to internal concrete floor slabs. Used to minimise cold bridging, these connectors provide continuity to the thermal insulation in the wall. Standard systems, comprising rigid CFC-free polystyrene insulation and stainless steel shear reinforcement, suit most depths of cantilever and simply supported balconies.

Ancon is honoured by HM The Queen at second Royal Reception
Ancon is honoured by HM The Queen at second Royal Reception
Ancon has again been honoured at a Royal Reception following the company’s second Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
The reception, on Tuesday 14th July 2015, was hosted by Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. Other members of the Royal Family in attendance included, The Duke of York, Princess Eugenie of York and The Princess Royal, underlining the importance attached to these prestigious industry awards.
Ancon’s Managing Director, Stuart Maxwell and Marketing Manager, Annabelle Wilson, who attended at the personal invitation of Her Majesty, were joined by representatives from other award-winning companies for the reception held in the magnificent state rooms of Buckingham Palace.
Ancon’s success in the 2015 Awards comes in recognition of its International Trade and acknowledges the company’s outstanding achievements in growing sales across new and existing export markets. It follows success in 2012, when the company was honoured with a Queen’s Award in Innovation, for the development and commercialisation of a unique Lockable Dowel, a system that has revolutionised post-tensioned concrete construction.
The reception was a proud moment for the Ancon representatives, who were each presented to HM The Queen and had the opportunity to discuss at length the company’s on-going business success with members of the Royal household, including The Princess Royal, The Duke of Kent and The Duke of Gloucester, with each passing on their congratulations on a second award.
Speaking following the Champagne Reception, Stuart Maxwell said, “It was a great personal honour to be welcomed by The Queen, and to be introduced to so many members of the Royal Family. When attending a reception at Buckingham Palace you follow in the footsteps of many historical figures and world leaders, taking in the splendour of some of the Palace’s most famous rooms, including the Throne Room and the Picture Gallery, used on many grand state occasions.”
“The Queen’s Award Reception is a unique event, and one that most in the business community will never have the opportunity to attend. For Ancon to attend a second Reception in just three years is a huge achievement for everyone at the company. It says a great deal about the company’s strategy and our increasing stature in international markets”.
In a break from tradition, the 2015 Award will be officially presented to the Sheffield-based company by the Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd, at a special ceremony later this year at Ancon’s manufacturing facilities in Deeside, North Wales.
The engraved crystal bowl and ceremonial scroll will then take pride of place in Ancon’s Sheffield Head Office with the 2012 Queen’s Award, alongside the company’s ever expanding array of UK and international awards and trophies.
Outstanding business performance earns Ancon a 2nd Queen’s Award Double
Outstanding business performance earns Ancon a second Queen’s Award
Double Queen's Award
Three years after receiving the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation, Ancon’s outstanding business performance has been recognised again in 2015 with a second Queen’s Award, this time in the International Trade category.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are presented annually by HM The Queen for exceptional business achievements in International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development. They recognise only the highest levels of excellence, with Ancon now honoured in two separate categories.
Following Ancon’s first Award in 2012 for the development and commercialisation of a unique Lockable Dowel, an innovative system that has revolutionised post-tensioned concrete construction, this second Award celebrates Ancon’s phenomenal success in growing sales across new and existing export markets.
Ancon exports its wide range of high integrity steel fixings to the construction industry throughout Europe, Australasia and North America, and in selected territories of Asia and Africa. The company has almost doubled its annual export trade in the past three years, significantly increasing sales even in turbulent economies such as Greece and Russia.
Ancon’s Export Sales Manager, Hervé Poveda, said
“We have increased product sales overseas across our concrete-related range, particularly our reinforcing bar couplers and shear load connectors which includes the new Ancon Lockable Dowel.”
“Over the last three years we have not only developed four new export markets, but have recorded significant growth in almost every one of our more established overseas markets.”
Ancon Shear Load Connector Range
Ancon impressed the Awards advisory committee with its clearly-defined long-term strategy to drive international sales growth, focussed on developing structural concrete fixings which meet local requirements, backed by market-specific communications, product approvals and distribution channels.
At the UK head office in Sheffield, Ancon operates a dedicated export team that provides the necessary language skills and product knowledge needed to support these sales and maintain excellent business relations with overseas distributors.
Ancon’s Managing Director, Stuart Maxwell, said
“Whilst Ancon is recognised home and abroad for the on-going development of new and innovative construction fixings, it is the strategy for selling these products that ultimately results in commercial success for our business. A Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the highest accolade any UK business can achieve and our second award in just four years is clear proof we have the right strategies in place that keep the customer in mind, wherever they are based.”
“It is another very proud day for everyone connected with Ancon. I am very grateful to the continued commitment of all our employees, and our overseas distributors who serve us so well, for their contribution to achieving this award.”
The company’s business credentials have been thoroughly assessed during the Award process, culminating in a recommendation from the Prime Minister, David Cameron, which was approved by HM The Queen before the official announcement.
The Queen’s Award for International Trade will be officially conferred by the Lord Lieutenant of the County at a special ceremony to be held at Ancon’s premises later this year, with two company representatives due to attend a reception at Buckingham Palace in July, attended by HM The Queen and other members of the Royal household.
