The recent Natural Stone Awards 2014 held in London goes to show that our Companies heritage is still celebrated throughout the United Kingdom.
Quarrying and craftsmanship of our natural stone since St Paul’s Cathedral has continued to this day, with over 300 years of excellence in masonry.
Portland Stone Firms are delighted to continually produce iconic London buildings that enrich our surroundings with a world class British stone.
Of note in the vast array of projects across the decades are the prestigious Whitehall Cenotaph to Sixty Holborn Viaduct or the distinctive headstones and commemorative memorials for the Common Wealth War Graves Commission following WW1.
The majority of London’s natural Portland stone developments have come from our privately owned quarries or modern factories.
