Retaining structure used as solution to needed earthworks in Yorkshire.

Retaining structure – Maccaferri Gabions chosen for urgent earthwork stabilisation

Reighton Holiday Park is in Filey on the Yorkshire coast, a popular attraction for the people of Yorkshire and surrounding areas. As the site is alongside the coast and is set into steep hills, the earth under the caravans had started to move so remedial ground stabilisation works were needed immediately.

Maccaferri were called in by PPD Associated Ltd to assess the situation and our Gabion retaining wall system was chosen for the job. Maccaferri designed the retaining wall structure and supplied the materials.

The Gabions are made from a double twisted steel wire mesh, the mesh is coated with our PoliMac coating. PoliMac is a new coating Maccaferri have advanced over the years, it is a more resistant polymer coating which withstands the test of time including over 120 year design life. PoliMac meets the civil engineering needs of today by being durable, cost effective and of a high performance.
