ION Glass - Enclosed Glass bridge for Sussex home
Ion Glass was commissioned to provide a bespoke, fully enclosed glass bridge to link a traditional Sussex home to a separate new master bedroom extension.
Enclosed and double-glazed the glass bridge comprises of a glass floor panel, glass roof panels and glass wall panels accurately designed to fit perfectly around the slope of the extension roof.
Like all our quality glass installations the result is deceptively simple, with minimal fixings and a flawless result with no indication of the technical challenges involved.
The link is created in double-glazed panels filled with argon gas to make it fully heat-retentive, meeting optimum criteria for heat loss performance.
A bespoke PFC frame was designed and commissioned by Ion Glass to suspend the glass floor, combined with bespoke steel framework for the wall and roof panels.
The floor panel features a repeat design of small circles sand-blasted onto the surface to create a non-slip finish.
A mobile crane was commissioned to lift the glass panels over the roof of the main house where they were manoeuvred into place by Ion's installation team.
