POWER ACCESS SYSTEMS MAKES A HOSPITAL VISIT

The New Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, is being built for the Papworth NHS Foundation Trust with completion scheduled for 2018. The world-renowned existing cardiothoracic specialist hospital cares for and treats 24,000 inpatient and day cases and nearly 73,000 outpatient cases each year. The new hospital will provide patients and staff with a leading-edge healthcare facility and has been designed to combine a highly efficient clinical layout with a stunning external appearance. Set in beautifully landscaped grounds it will capture the essence of the original tuberculosis hospital that is today’s pioneering heart and lung treatment and transplant centre of excellence.

Building information modelling technology is being used to maximise energy efficiency and map all the building’s services. Power Access Systems was contracted by Skanska to install a cleaning rail and cradle system to serve the vertical walls of the curved courtyard areas. A clear plan of all building’s facilities ensures that the hospital has long-term flexibility regarding the changing use of spaces.

This is one of many bespoke access systems that Power Access Systems has installed since 1983.
