REA are specialists in the design, manufacture, installation and glazing of architectural steel glazing systems including fire rated glazed screens, steel windows and doors. REA is a Registered Company for independently assessed Quality Systems to ISO 9001/2 in design and manufacture and has a BSI Kitemark for quality assured manufacture and performance testing of steel windows to BS 6510:1984.
All our products are made to order from various galvanised steel profiles to suit most applications ranging from single paned ’hole in the wall’ installations, to multi framed composite assemblies for both fire rated and non fire rated installations.
REAsteel W20 & W40 Range of Steel Windows
The ’REAsteel W20’ range of hot rolled steel window profiles were introduced in the early 1960’s. The W20 steel window profiles, especially of the intermediate glazing bar at 28mm, make this product range the most suitable for replicating the small and marginal paned fenestrations typical of the 1930’s. W20 steel windows can accommodate sealed glass units up to 14mm thick.
The REAsteel W40’ range of profiles is an evolutionary development of the traditional hot rolled steel window. The system was designed to accommodate 24mm sealed double glazed units. Both W20 and W40 steel windows can be glazed from either the inside or outside. REA Steel windows are Secure by Design and comply with Part L of the Building Regulations.
The REAframe Range of Steel Glazed Screens & Steel Glazed Doors.
The main benefits of the product are robust durability, torsional rigidity and slim sight lines, allowing panes with a high glass to frame ratio. The depth of the frames at typically 50mm, together with a wide range of different depths of beading allowing a wide range of glazing options.
The firebREAk Fire Rated Windows, Doors & Screens.
Provides fire resistance for integrity to BS 476: Part 22: 1987 of 30 and 60 minutes with doors, and up to 120 minutes with fixed glazing. Hinged rebated doors and single or double action swing doors are available. Screens and doors are manufactured from a range of profiles which are formed from a ’sandwich’ of dense mineral fibre board. The frames are assembled by welding or, when necessary, spigot jointed for assembly on site.
On exposure to heat, the intumescent interlayers of glass react by increasing in volume forming a sacrifical opaque thermal barrier to both radiant and conductive heat.
After fabrication all steel windows and screens, doors are hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 (1999) and, where specified, polyester powder coated to BS6497 and available in a wide range of standard colours.
